Annual September Islander Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unit 308 was updated & very nice with the exception of the stove. It was old with very uneven burners. Also the dryer took 3-4 cycles to dry a medium size load. The vent fan in the guest bathroom also needs attention. We love the Islander but it is becoming very pricey for off-season stays.

The front desk staff does not represent the Hotel in a favorable manner. We were greeted by a very curt person that spoke to us as though we were going to boarding school.

The islander resort was clean and beautiful. However, the room we stayed in smelled of a mixture of mold and urine. There was poor air flow in the restrooms, a weak fan in the bathroom, the carpets smelled, and there was an unusual amount of moisture in the room. For examples, the barstools in the kitchen always felt moist, despite us never using them or sitting on them. The master bedroom was OK but the secondary bedroom was unusable due to the smell. We kept the door to that room closed the entire time. I think this place needs to be checked for mold. If the moisture issue is solved, then this is an excellent place to stay.

On The Beach

The unit we stayed in was 308. It was very nice and clean. We really liked the trolleys and shopping carts available for hauling in and out our belongings. If we were to find a negative it was that the door stopper would not stay in place and we were given a key to the “NONEXISTENT “ room safe. I even went down and asked the person at the front desk who told me it was in the floor of the bathroom. We looked for about 30 minutes for this safe to no avail.

Unit upgrades were great, bathrooms very very nice. Great to have washer dryer. Both pool temps were pretty HOT unfortunately so not that refreshing after the beach. Unit did smell like moisture of sorts while AC was running. Front 2nd bedroom really smelled of moisture especially when door was shut for any period of time. Check in was a little frustrating. Was told early check in would be available mostly likely. Our unit was NOT rented prior to our stay which we could clearly see in the windows. We arrived at 9am from our flight to check in at front desk. Attendant said normally early check ins happen between 10am-12pm. Checked back in with desk several times throughout the day and did NOT get into room until 330pm. I understand "check in" is 4pm but NO ONE was using the unit and it was already clean. Was told it still needed to be "inspected" and there was only 1 inspector on site for entire facility.

It’s seconds to the beach and the views are just breathtaking. This room 308 had a washer and dryer and really helped our more than we thought . The staff are always nice and accommodating to our needs. The location is right in the middle and close to which ever end you want to be on .

Reviewer Comments: When we got to the condo it looked ok, but when I started cleaning and disinfecting the condo I was shocked. The floors were not washed. I went and bought a mop and mopped the entire condo. Dust was everywhere. So after a good deep clean the condo was ready to stay in. Other than that we had a nice family time. The staff were very nice and helpful. Donna at the front desk was very friendly and if we had a problem she wrote down the order for the issue to get fixed. The kids activities were fun and the pools were always clean.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our condo was very nice and matched the photos. We stayed in 308, which was labeled as a Platinum unit. It had a very nice view of the beach and pool. It was mostly clean, but could use some spot checks and extra cleaning along the molding and ceilings. There was food under the couch from the last guests. The water heater closet was stuffed with junk that looked like it had been left behind by guests over the years.The entire building itself could use an upgrade. The rear of the parking lot was not well lit at night. I think for our condo being labeled "Platinum" I wondered what some of the other units looked like. I was overall happy with our stay, but we thought it was overpriced for what we paid to stay in June. Plus paying a "housekeeping fee" when there is no daily housekeeping and you have to basically clean the place yourself upon leaving. I did really like that it was just a two minute walk to the beach. Next visit, though, we would try another place. We would maybe recommend this to a friend depending on their budget and wants.
