The small village of Diex is the sunniest mountain village in Austria with more than 2,000 proven hours of sunshine per year, lies at around 1,200 metres above sea level on the southern slope of the Saualpe, above the Jaun and Lavant valleys and offers unique panoramic views. In Diex in the south of Austria, around 2,000 kilometres of hiking trails lead across mountains and valleys, past numerous lakes to little-known places in the remote villages and valleys with their unique scenic flair.

With a depth of 48 metres and a water temperature of up to 29 degrees, the famous Lake Klopeiner See is the largest, best known and warmest of the 7 lakes in southern Carinthia and can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes. With Austria's only continuous water promenade, Lake Klopeiner See is perfect for swimming and strolling. Right next door the idyllic Lake Turnersee is located, an absolute natural beauty and a haven of relaxation, surrounded by green forests and meadows, with a prefct view at the Karawanken mountains. The equally well-known Lake Wörthersee, close to the border with Italy and Slovenia and about 45 minutes away by car, offers countless water sports activities in summer, chilled lakeside terraces, cool events and picturesque towns such as Velden am Wörthersee, Pörtschach am Wörthersee and Maria Wörth. The adventure swimming pool in Völkermarkt and the public outdoor pool in Griffen also guarantee plenty of swimming fun in summer!

In winter, the ski resorts of Petzen - Feistritz ob Bleiburg with 14 kilometers, Klippitztörl with 28 kilometers, the Koralpe with 18 kilometers, Simonhöhe / Sankt Urban with 13 kilometers, Hirnkopf on the Flattnitz with 8 kilometers and Saualpe - Eberstein with 1 kilometer of pistes offer plenty of winter sports fun! You can reach these ski resorts in max 45 minutes by car.

Diex, in the South Carinthia Klopeiner See cycling and mountain biking region, is home to a number of easy and moderately difficult cycling tours such as the Hochfeistritz tour, the Saualm day tour, the Völkermarkt cultural cycle path or the Völkermarkt reservoir tour. The nearby MTB Zone Bikepark Petzen offers experienced bikers and World Cup riders a number of enduro nature trails, as well as an exciting practice course for beginners.

In Diex and the surrounding area as well as in Völkermarkt there are plenty of shopping facilities for daily needs and a good selection of restaurants
