I didn’t enjoy the aesthetics of the hotel, the outside looked old and the inside showed it was a hotel designed for mainly OAPs as there were stair lifts. The hotel smelled, the floor creaked in the room and you could easily hear people outside your room.
The photos of this hotel are nothing like advertised. It was worn, cramped, dated, broken tiles in bathroom. Main light didnt work in the room, walls are paper thin so could hear the other guests. Staff weren't friendly. Very disappointed.
We were greeted by a very friendly, smiley receptionist who upgraded us to a sea view room at no extra charge as it was later in the day. The room was not huge, but very clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom was extremely narrow but we managed as we were only there for a couple of nights. The view made it all worthwhile. There was entertainment both nights of our stay with a great atmosphere (the coach party staying were a jolly lot). Breakfast was great, waiters friendly and efficient. Overall we had a great couple of nights stay and would definitely return.
Just about everything that could be bad was bad. This includes absolutely everything except the breakfast and a kind and understanding woman, the morning receptionist. I had booked for four nights, I would have left the first night but arrived too late to find an alternative. Got up at 5.30 am because the bed was so uncomfortable and talked for a while with the pleasant night porter whilst sitting in the reception area, waiting for the receptionist to arrive at about 8.00 am or thereabouts. I had my breakfast which opened at 8.30 am. Then checked out of this terrible hotel and found a much better and proper alternative.
Good location and pleasant staff is about the only nice things I can say! The room was small, outdated, poorly furnished, no bedside lights...the word 'grim' springs to mind.
There is something very disconcerting about using a tiny tatty bathroom and seeing previous occupants hairs on the floor...yuk! The toilet leaked, thankfully it looked like clean water but the room was so small we couldn't inspect it that closely! Also the ball clock in the cistern did not shut off fully, gallons of water being wasted.
The one clock hanging on the wall stopped at 5 o'clock so long ago that the battery in the back was corroded in place. The wardrobe door hinge had dropped so much you couldn't close the door.
There were no hooks to hang coats, just two mismatched dining chairs to put your bags, clothes and coats on...
We booked over 6 months beforehand and specifically requested a sea view, didn't get one! When questioned, the reception staff told us that group bookings take precedence over individuals, shame we weren't advised that when we booked!
On the plus side the bed was very firm, which suited us (others might struggle) and the linen was clean.
We visit Eastbourne to see friends 3-4 times a year, this is most definitely a hotel we will not return to.

good hotel for the cost
Good location near the bandstand, hotel a little shabby, but still better than a lot of them in the area, couldn't fault the staff, they were all very happy, helpful and polite.

Old hotel in need of some care.
We are quite easily pleased and was basically just looking for a sea view without paying the earth. We got exactly that. Woke up to a beautiful sunny morning overlooking the sea, stunning view of Eastbourne promenade!
Hotel requires an overhaul and some love and attention, but for £56 a night, you get what you pay for.

Difficult to enter room but staff were happy to help, room is ok but had some damp spots. Breakfast was ok though
Horrible experience. The lift was too small we can’t even fit ourselves with 1 luggage and 1 backpack inside. The room stinks as soon as we enter. Damps all over the wall, bulging ceiling, chipped cabinet, broken window, dirty toilets. It stunk like a pee. Almost like a care home smell. It is probably a retirement place for old people as we saw a lot of oldies coming in and out and sitting and chatting. We don’t have problems with the elderly, our problem is the room they provided us. The guy offered another room but it was worse than the first one. So we left and looked for another hotel. Unfortunately by that time, nothing was available for us. We drive to Swansea, Portsmouth hoping we find a place to stay. But the same way, all room is fully booked in every hotel we tried to stay. We ended up driving home to Leeds up to 5:30 am. We survived by hopping to one lay-by to services so we can rest and sleep in our car. It truly ruined our holiday.
It's very worn out and very tatty everywhere. Nothing worked in the room. Thread bare carpets everywhere. You could sat you get what you pay for but it wasn't super cheap.. Will not go back again. Breakfast cold

Veldig engelsk standard
Et helt ok sted, sentralt i Eastbourne. Hotellet trenger en oppgradering på det meste, men veldig typisk britisk standard. Manglet trådløst i 4 etg, et minus. Bra frokost og baren er godkjent. God seng. Fikk ikke påfyll av shampo. Fire dagers opphold.
Hôtel très bien situé et près des différents points d'intérêt d' Eastbourne . Hôtel avec un personnel compétent et des chambres correctes . Très bon petit déjeuner.
Would stay here again. Lovely breakfast. Room was good everything we needed.

The lift is vey small and so too was the bathroom with very little room to get in or out. The hotel staff were very accommodating and the owner is very friendly.
I was phoned the morning and moved to an amnexe/sister building . The room was beyond basic - the beds old and mattress needed changing . the building was heaving with loud noisy exchange students who chatted and giggled on the corridors running in and out of each other’s rooms - if I had been 14 I may have be more positive about that .
The toilet dripped loudly - ther wall paper was coming away slightly in a couple of spots and there were stains on the bathroom cieling . There were cobweb s on the open bathroom window . If it had not been late I would have driven home.
However - the staff were lovely - the woman on reception was a refreshingly direct and helpful lady and the breakfast staff were delightful the chaps could not have been more pleasant or helpful - breakfast was ok the bacon was ok and eggs the sausages were a very poor relation to any I have ever eaten. It was alll very school exchange appropriate .
Whoever appoints and trains staff does a great job - whoever decides return decor and standards needs objective support - I have taken photographs to document the experience.

Hotel right on seafront and close to everything
We had a 1 night stay, for the cost it was fine, the hotel is very tired and in need of a refurbishment. The bed was very comfortable with lovely crisp white sheets. The shower was powerful and hot. Breakfast was of a good standard for the price. Would stay again for a cheap night away as it was close to everything.

Great location for the tennnis
The hotel is definitely in need of updating, but our room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped (having a fridge was a bonus). The breakfast buffet was great and the staff in the dining room and reception were very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately the WIFI didn't extend as far as our room, but was available in the lobby. The location was great - right on the seafront and only 5 minutes walk from the tennis at Devonshire Park. Nearby Carlisle Road has shops and takeaways, and it's also not far into the town centre.
