Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Convenient to my organized bicycling tour end 4/26 at Hampton Inn Elizabeth City (other hotels in the area were fully booked). Noisy — only 40 meters away from busy hwy US-17 and a high-pitched sound that seems to come from the room’s fridge/freezer; Bring earplugs. Pros: efficient fridge/freezer; business-like staff; clean (except for some stray pet hair). Cons: no security latch on door; in my room 112, unrepaired damage from previous guests — missing shower head (unpleasant to use, to say the least, and Wasteful of water); dented inside bathroom door, dented outside door with keycard-operated lock looking like it’s not biting into solid wood. No desk lamp; chair is not suitable for the desk (no casters). I’d stay here again if no other hotel had rooms available.
The room was not clean and the towels were dirty beds were hard sheets don't get changed and my second last day I noticed cockroaches and they are dealing drugs out back of the office and I developed a rash on my legs from sleeping in the bed
Room wasn’t available , I called and they told me to go to another location, I went there , nobody was there , I called again and they told me to go back to the first place and they can clean one for me, they did but it was dirty as hell,
Linens in poor condition. Room not clean. Bugs in every room. Neighbors very noisy until 3:30 AM. Overall condition of room was tired and worn. Attempting to refresh but has made the grade yet.
Never have been to a worse motel. When I pulled back the bed spread I observed a dead small bug and dirty sheets . I couldn’t stay and checked out immediately.
My wife booked on Expedia. Before arriving locals warned us not to stay there. We walked in to a depressing and dirty room. Saw 3 roaches in bathroom and immediately went to office, turned in key, told person on duty why we were leaving and took off. Do not even think about staying here.

2/10 Terrible

Floor was dirty, air conditioning stunk terrible, bed sheets had stains, cockroaches and other creepy crawlies in the room.
When I got to Whispering Pines, they were full and had relocated me to one of their other hotels. The other hotel, Travelers Inn was further away, in a less desirable part of town, and the owner refused to give me a refund.
I understand this isnt a 5 star hotel, but still expected a clean room. Floor was very dirty, pillows were shoved into drawer and had no pillow case, no washcloths, no soap, bugs crawling on floor.
Dead bugs on the comforter. Foul odor in the room. Stain on the sheets. Dead spider on the pillow. Did not stay the night. The room was disgusting and I was exhausted. I want a refund for the room.
I arrived & checked-in. The clerk on duty was very nice & kind.
The room was unacceptable.
Here's why; deadbolt didn't work or turn, no hot water (and ran water for @ 5 mins), toilet seat was broken, toilet paper holder missing, smell/odor from a/c unit, bed box frame was extremely loud & noisy, key card failed, then electronic door lock lost power and had to be let into my room manually.
When I asked a room change, I was told that they only had a "double" available. Staff appeared to be a bit hesitant to have me switch rooms.
When it was agreed to move rooms, to room 100;
there was no parking at or near room 100
I made the decision to pack up & find another place to stay for the night, which I did find at COMFORT INN.
Finally, the front office had the heavy smell of marijuana in the air. And all around room 108 had the same smell.
Also, the tv in room 108 was set for room 110. Remote did not work. When I informed the front office about this, I was told "well, that's the cable peoples fault". So no tv to use in room 108. And the free wifi was spotty at best.

DO NOT RECOMMENED
Booked a room got there and said they were overbooked. Then sent me to another motel said they were affiliated with. Got to the other hotel and they’re not even affiliated. Wasn’t able to get a refund don’t waste your time or money booking with this establishment.
We were moved last minute to another motel owned by the same owners and told it was recently renovated and cost more but we got for price paid for whistling pines. The rooms were cheaply updated and filthy. Got a nonsmoking room that reeked of smoke, the counters were bumpy with dirt and putting the white towels on the floor came up dark brown from filth.
Conveniently located, best price in town...chose this motel so I could park my bike in front of the room, safe and quiet. Kuddos to the ownership on running a nice place
