“Property was very quaint, the staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and the amenities were appropriate for the property. The pool was small but very nice providing a view of the hills surrounding St. Thomas and overlooking the town itself. It was within walking distance of just about everything that we wanted to see. The room was small, not posh, but very clean and comfortable. It was exactly what we were looking for in our breif layover in St. Thomas and we will be back when we can……

“Check in staff was not pleasant and we had to wait almost half an hour longer than we were told for our room to be ready. Check in is at 4pm and we didnt get our room until 430. Room had a beautiful view and was pretty clean. Blackouts did not effect the power as they have an onsite generator. Our refrigerator worked most of the time and AC was amazing. The shower had a vroken handle that maintenance was unable to fix. Not a big deal really. It was not close to any beaches, but close……

“Wonderful stay. Clean room. Comfortable space. Ourside areas were great! Easy access to town (down steps). Chase and Lyndsey are awesome hosts!”

“Power went out often on the island, a generator is needed at this property. Out flight was cancelled and we lost a day. I was told we would get credit for that but haven’t received confirmation of that yet. Location is okay, taxi service is a few blocks away, restaurants close. Not sure if I’d return or recommend at this time, still waiting on owner to honor his verbal agreement. But no matter what, a generator is desperately needed to protect a quality experience. ”

“The room was very clean and had great amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly. The space is beautiful and charming. Bartender and Restaurant staff were exceptional and the food was amazing. My only piece of feedback would be to add some lounge chairs near the pool. But next time I come back to St Thomas there is no doubt I’m staying at Hotel 1829! ”

“Overall loved the location and amenities. Staff was also great. Only issue in our room is it needs a bed/mattress replacement. I felt like I was laying on different levels of plywood. Caused some back discomfort. ”

“Do NOT plan to arrive early to this hotel or be treated kindly. We arrived around 3:00 pm knowing that check in is at 4 pm, but most hotels can accommodate an early check in if the rooms are ready. We explained that we would like to check in so we could freshen up prior to our 4:30 pm cab pickup and dinner reservation at 5 pm. The front desk person didn’t even look at her computer and told us check in is at 4. When 4:00 arrived so did the line of people. We had to change our reservation and……

“This resort needs to be updated. They want you to re use towels but there’s no place to put the wet towels. Room was not clean, front desk staff was very unfriendly. ”

“What a beautiful place to stay on St. John, a great location with outstanding views. The restaurant was wonderful, we had two outstanding dinners and enjoyed after dinner drinks at the bar each evening. Staff was outstanding, friendly and helpful! We are planning to return in 2027!”
