Colorado Visit to Halcyon

Great place. Clean, quiet, semi secluded. Well stocked and well taken car of. But roads are very rough. Way more space than we needed (just the 2 of us but cabin sleeps at least 8).

Absolutely Beautiful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, beautiful home. Halcyon accommodated our family of 5 adults with no problems. Beautiful views through the windows and beautiful on the inside also. Internet worked well and foosball was a lot of fun. The only items that could have been more comfortable would be the beds. Some of us prefer firm beds while others prefer soft beds, but that is to be expected when you travel. Hosts were quick to answer any inquiries we had while we were on the property. We would definitely use this property again.

Wonderful Stay in Fairplay, CO

The Home was the perfect location for enjoying the mountains, hiking, and lovely community. The kitchen was ideal for family cooking with excellent cooking supplies from pans to ample cooking utensils, plates, glasses, and mugs. The house was clean with beautiful views. Highly recommend.

Wonderful stay

Very beautiful cabin! We stayed at this cabin for 4 nights, had no issues whatsoever. Amazing views, beds were comfy, loved the game room with a foosball table. Check in instructions were very easy. The only thing is that the road to get to the cabin is very rough so be prepared, but we made it safe and sound in our Cadillac. We would definitely book this cabin again in the future!

The cabin was perfect. Big enough for my family of 5 with 3 teenagers, and still cozy! Secluded but close to town. We were all so sad to leave!

Special Christmas Memories that last a lifetime!

We had the most wonderful Christmas stay at Halcyon, it is a really beautiful secluded cabin right up in the mountains with more snow than is imaginable! I wanted somewhere from the movies that myself, husband and 2 small children could spend our Christmas in and this place was just magical! Clean, stunning and in the right place, only 40 minutes drive from Breckenridge which was a beautiful area and ski resort! Would come back here in a heartbeat! The ladies at Second Home Second Chance were so lovely and made sure we had a wonderful stay!

A Peaceful Getaway

Everything about our stay at Halcyon was what we had hoped it would be. Peaceful, private, beautiful, comfortable and quiet. It's a getaway from the hustle and bustle, but also only a 30 minute drive from Breckenridge. The house is absolutely beautiful and cozy, and was furnished with everything we needed. The area is private and boasts stunning scenery and wildlife. We enjoyed sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning and at night looking up at the stars. We hiked some trails nearby and also drove up Boreas Pass to view the awesome Fall foliage. If you are considering a stay here, don't wait, book it. It's a 5 star stay!

Reconnect with nature

We had a wonderful time staying at your cabin! It was beautiful, the beds were comfortable, it was clean. My son and husband had to do some work from home and the high-speed Internet was wonderful. We loved the covered porch and sat out there many nights. The kitchen was wonderful to cook in, and we ate in almost every night. We went skiing at four different mountains! My son used the snow shoes and took a short hike in the woods. Close enough to town for groceries yet far away to feel connected with nature My only complaint was that it was very cold on the first floor, very warm on the 2nd and 3rd levels and there were no instructions on how to use the wood-burning stove on the first floor until the next day. Unless that stove was on it was pretty cool down there.

Great Stay

So I read all reviews before choosing where to stay at any cabin. I was on the fence about booking this cabin. I’m so glad I ended up choosing this one! It was such a great property. The landscape made sledding down the hills and driveway a blast. They had all the sleds, along with snow shoes. The cabin was beautiful and spacious for our family of 8. We had my parents, my brother, my husband and I, our three kids. We all had plenty of room. We saw plenty of wild life around the neighborhood, including the moose mentioned in other reviews. I was nervous to book this cabin due to reviews saying beds were hard, the cabin was dirty, and others. We didn’t have any of these issues. We were really impressed with this cabin. I highly recommend this property.

Stay elsewhere until BEDS are replaced!

Nice cabin. Nice amenities. Nice location. TERRIBLE BEDS. Had to sleep on our air mattress. Based upon previous reviews, brought one just in case. Do not recommend this property. Cheap mattresses with foam toppers. BELIEVE IT! Sorry to be so direct, but I called the property managers to see if this was addressed, they told me the owner would not update. We decided to try it anyway as no other options were available. PLEASE BE WARNED!!!

Just ok

This was our second time staying at this property and unfortunately it did not live up to the amazing experience we had the first time. We booked a 7 night stay. Upon arriving & unpacking we found someone's prescription bottle with pills in the bathroom drawer. Luckily we found it before the kids did. The blankets they had out to use had not been washed as they smelled of old or fried food. In the kitchen there is a half sized trash can that fills up very quickly (we had 7 guests). There were no trash bags for use so we had to go out and buy some (we left the remaining ones for the next guest). Full trash is to be taken downstairs and placed into a larger black trash bin. By midweek it was completely full. We reached out to management who said it's their policy to only pick up once every 7 days. He suggested we put the trash in our car and drive it to their office to throw out. For the amount of money we spent and number of guests we paid for we shouldn't be expected to drive the trash somewhere after 4 days. They were not willing to help. We were snowed in for two days and no one reached out to us about plowing. We ended up calling the town for plow information. Once management responded about the knee-deep driveway being plowed they said they couldn't because our cars were in the driveway. No one ever called or knocked on the door to move the cars. We would have happily moved them. When we asked for the owner's contact information they didn't provide it to us. Disappointed.

Our third time to stay here. Feels like home. Always is extremely clean and welcoming.A few suggestions: - More than one kitchen towel and dishrag would be helpful. - An extra towel rack in the upper bathroom would be nice. - One large hook on the back of each bathroom door would offer a place to hang one's robe or clothes, for after a shower.

Serene and beautiful area and house

This cabin was very spacious, beautiful, and serene. We were so relaxed in this cabin. It felt to us like home. The cabin was easy to get to. There were many thoughtful items the owners had available for us to use such as snowshoes, sled, condiments in the fridge, coffee, cooking spices and oils. We try to eat healthy and I was quite surprised at the amount of healthy options available to us. The washer cleans very well and the mountain water that comes from the well was so tasty. It was a great experience we had with the cabin and a great home. We would rent it again if in the area. The only negative thing I can say is we couldn’t find the hair dryer nor the lighter for the fireplace. Other than those two things, we have no complaints.

A Winter Wonderland!! Beautiful home!

Our family had amazing stay in this home. It had everything we needed and more. We truly enjoyed playing in the snow, exploring the property and sledding with the sleds they provided. The views are absolutely gorgeous. On a couple of our drives down or up the mountain we saw a momma moose and baby moose! We also saw lots of elk. Pretty neat! The beds were comfortable. The only con would be the heating. We had a hard time keeping the 1st floor warm and the upstairs would get to hot. But nothing that would keep us from returning. We spent many days in Breckenridge which took 35-45 minutes or so. The drive there is gorgeous. It a must stay place!!

Family Vacation

House worked well for 8 people. The beds in the bunk room were not very comfortable and covered in plastic. It was very cold when we were there and we could never get the bottom floor warm and the 3rd story was hot. There is only one thermostat and it’s on the ground level. We loved the Christmas decorations and a moose and her baby came right to the window. We saw many other animal tracks. Sleds are at the house so the small hill in the back was great fun. The roads in and out are terrible. We all had four wheel drive trucks and we could only go about 5 mph because they are so rough you slide even with no snow. Roads would probably damage a regular car. Not really enough hot water for that many people to shower in the morning. Overall a beautiful home and very clean, but be aware of things noted. Management company was great. I sent a message to just make a note it needed a new can opener and they offered to bring one right away. Told them no big deal it was a note for them as the one there wouldn’t turn. Every message or question I sent they answered back in minutes.
