Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Abalos holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a stress-free flight experience is to pack in advance. Start with the essentials: passport, boarding pass, cash and vital medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help while away those hours, like your laptop or a good book. You'll also want to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. Last but not least, don't forget to chuck in toiletry items like a toothbrush, lip balm and a clean T-shirt.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a Swiss Army knife lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable goods, like aerosols and matches, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and pick shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to slip on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Walk around the cabin and give your legs a stretch or do some simple exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
