Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you're well prepared. Check out these handy hints that will help get your Calitri escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Opt for shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to take a jacket in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
