Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Kimam escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, pack in your passport, important documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll want some entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a laptop crammed with your favorite movies are good options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a few toiletry items to ensure you arrive feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and fuel, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Layer up in breathable clothing and remember to bring a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin. Pick a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the journey. Leave the stilettos and chunky boots in your checked baggage.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated helps to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a quality pair of compression tights or socks may also help.
