Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well organised. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Luminarias holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, put in your passport, travel documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling book and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you plan to take a short snooze, a quality neck pillow and some earplugs will also be useful. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you touchdown feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between air carriers, the general guide to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like tools, metal cutlery, spray paint and fireworks. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and items that could injure passengers, such as firearms and swords, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and pick shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Walk around the cabin and give your legs a stretch or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
