If you’re not prepared, air travel can be challenging. But don’t hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy hints for a pain-free start to your time in Shell. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Traveling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you’ve got all the right gear. Firstly, you’ll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and something to read. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any vital medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, pocket knives, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and items that could harm other people, such as firearms and ammunition, aren’t allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The answer to a comfortable flight can be as simple as the clothes you wear. Prepare for changes in temperature by bringing layers. This will keep you nice and warm if the cabin begins to cool down. Shoes like sandals and heels are best left for other occasions. Even though they may be your favorites, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will appreciate it.
- Most of us have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There are numerous ways to minimize your risk. Wear a good-quality pair of compression tights or socks, drink plenty of water and get your legs and feet moving. Wander up and down the aisles of the cabin or perform exercises in your seat.
