We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be speeding through the airport and having a blast in The Bluff before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an awesome travel experience is to be prepared. Start with the essentials: passport, boarding pass, credit cards and medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you entertained, like your laptop or a thrilling novel. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. Last but not least, don't forget to toss in toiletry items like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a spare change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like a pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The long, narrow aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and remember to bring a sweater as it can get quite cool inside the cabin during longer flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- Most travelers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There are numerous ways to minimize your risk. Wear compression socks, stay well hydrated and move your legs and feet. Do a few laps of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
