Modern and recently renovated, just a short distance away from the central station, and located in a convenient area to reach all major attractions of the city. Dreamy Guelfa can accomodate up to 6 peeople thanks to the two bedrooms, one with king bed and one with two single beds, and a large sofa bed. The house has 3 bathrooms, insuring a comfortable stay for both for families and large groups. The apartment is located in via Guelfa in Florence, one of the main streets of the historical city centre, just few steps away from the train station Santa Maria Novella. 4 of us stayed in this apartment in late April. It largely suited our needs, but was disappointing in some ways. While it can fit 4 we were tight. A fifth could have been squeezed in but it would have been very uncomfortable. There's no way 6 could feasible share this apartment for more than a night.Pros:Great location - wonderful views, walk to duomo, and quiet at night.CleanOne relatively spacious bedroomPlenty of bathrooms Sleep-able couch Cons:-NON FUNCTIONAL AC. Two small units for 3 rooms, and no output vents so they are pumping out as much heat into the room as they are cooling it. In the summer this would be unbearable. One space fan in the whole unit and it was broken.-Bugs (Windows don't have screens as is usual in Europe-a bigger issue with the AC problem)-second bedroom is a loft without a door - limited privacy.-bathrooms are pretty cramped.-lacked certain kitchen appliances. Don't count on being able to cook before you see what they have.-At the top of 3 flights of stairs (not necessarily an issue, but keep it in mind)Overall: a modest accommodation for 4 people. Nice enough and doable but I would never book this in the summer.

Family vacation, communication with property manager was great. Listing was as described. Although the apartment had air conditioning it was off when we arrived and it was so hot we had to open the windows through the night getting bit by bugs. The keys was very faulty, you had to turn and wiggle keys a certain way. But quiet and peaceful location.

Not as advertised

I read this property had AC but it did not, we weren’t also advised about the extra city charge they charge for each guest. But most importantly the cleanliness very unhappy with it. Mostly bed mattresses one of my children was bitten by either bed bugs or mosquitoes horribly. The rest of the family was also bitten but not as bad. Asking for compensation for my stay.

Good but needs improvement

Nice, updated. 50 steep stairs are daunting. No microwave, no kitchen towels, face towels. Stove was available but was not ideal. No instructional manual with trip tips. Needed extra blankets. Old world keys can be challenging. Comfy beds, clean and great checkin young man. Door to one bathroom was broken.

Centrally located

I stayed here with friends. The keys work to the apartment but EXTREMELY difficult to open the front door entrance to the bottom floor. You have to climb 3 flights of stairs to the apartment. We asked where to park our car. We never received a response. I probably wouldn’t stay here again for the trouble with the keys alone.

Great location.

On time check in. Round the corner from the train station and a mile from the river-this was a great base for our 3 nights in Firenze. Lots of shops & restaurants are just steps away. AC unit in living area and air coolers & fans in bedrooms-this did keep it cool. We kept the windows shut as we had already been bitten by mosquitoes in the other 3 cities we visited. We did trip the electric within 10 minutes of our arrival and the response from the management company was very quick. You can’t have all the fans/AC on and the washer-understandable in these older buildings. Beds were comfy. Twin beds in loft room were fine but there is no door -so no privacy. 3 bathrooms with showers was a plus. Only having one set of keys was a drawback. I asked for another set but apparently it’s not available. This unit could sleep 6 and it was hard enough for the 4 of us to coordinate getting back in if we split up to walk around Florence. Steps-this was our 4th City & 4th apartment. We walk everywhere & don’t mind steps but you do need to take care on this stone staircase. Very steep & narrow, but there is a handrail and timed lighting. Overall good stay.

Do NOT Stay here!

The property was clean and the location was great, but... "unlimited Wi-Fi" - the internet was spotty and slow at best "independent air conditioning" - the portable AC unit was inadequate to cool the flat. "3 bathrooms" - that smelled like sewage Communicated with Simin, prior to our arrival giving her our train information. Text when we arrived at the flat and were told she would be a half hour or more due to checking in another renter. After spending a miserable night without adequate AC to combat the 100 degree weather, I message Simin about the issue and our desire to find another place to stay. She never responded. After securing alternate lodging for the remainder of our stay I looked into alternate contacts for this property. I sent a message through VRBO to Eduardo Matucci. He is the one who had emailed me about my booking/reservation in January 2022, and then provided Simin's contact information in July 2022. His response was " Sorry to hear that. You could have contacted us and we would've immediately send someone to check the issue." I explained that I had contacted Simin and had gotten no response. His reply "Simin is only suupposed to do the check-in, for any other concer we have this chat" Long story short, this experience was horrible. I paid for 4 nights at this property. Paid the city taxes for 3 guests for 4 nights at this property. Communicated with 2 people about this property, and neither attempted to address the issues. Please listen to this review and book somewhere else!!

San Lorenzo apartment

Edoardo and his team were very helpful. Honestly, there is nothing wrong with the apartment if you do not mind austere conditions. By that I mean very close quarters. No style to speak of. Very much like a studio apt. Where you can turn and be in the kitchen, turn and be in the living room, turn and be in the bedroom. Be prepared for no centralized air. It was extremely hot during our stay. No air in one of the bedrooms just a fan. The living room had a rolling unit that literally cooled 3 ft. in front of you. Same with bedroom upstairs. So, all that is to say this. Did they misrepresent the apartment? No. Just be aware you are getting the minimum. Nothing luxury except one of the bathrooms, but that had an odor to it. Also, they do have it listed, there are 3 very long and arduous flights of stairs. We had to stop a couple of times to catch our breath. They do have it listed but, reality doesn't sink in until you actually see the steps. We stayed one night and I would not have stayed again. We were looking for more luxury and the photos appeared that way. It's all about interpretation. So, I am not giving this apartment a bad rating because there was actually nothing wrong with it. It just had some features we personally did not like. Wanted to give the review an honest assessment so, you know what you are getting. Some guests may be perfectly fine with it. The apartment is very close to a lot of the sights in Florence.

Convenient to the train station

Lots of stairs, don’t travel with heavy bags. You’ll want to bring small euros to pay for the city tax at check in, the host would not make change for a 50. Place looks a little bigger in the pictures.
