Terrible stay in Firenze

The property listing and pictures are very deceptive! While the location of the property was terrific, everything else was a huge disappointment. The apartment had a weird: chemical smell, poor lighting and very poor furnishings. The living area was not comfortable and the dining chairs were torn and tattered. The walls were thin so we could hear sounds from other apartments all night long!

Great location

Property is in a very centrally located spot minutes from attractions, shopping & great cuisine! Property also spotless & beds extremely comfortable! Would recommend updating the living room furniture & adding a microwave. Communication upon arrival was a bit confusing but we figured it out. All in all, was a very nice stay.

Great location in Florence.

This spot is amazing. Everything is 15-20 minutes walking. Centrally located in Florence. Place is older but clean. King bed for two then a room with one bed and a room with two. Worked great for me and my wife and our two adult children. Thanks for a great visit!

Great location in Florence

Great option for a family stay in Florence. Convenient central location. Apartment was spacious and clean. Would be nice to have paper towels in the kitchen, and additional trash bags.

Perfect location in Florence

Great location in Florence near the river, literally with restaurants right and left of the main entrance to the apartment. We had a family of four stay here for four nights and were very comfortable. All historic sights, shopping, the train station, and restaurants are a simple walk from the apartment. No car was necessary. The apartment is on third floor, and like many older buildings it is stairs only to access third floor. Would stay again based on location and amenities.

Great location in heart of Florence

We had one big negative in that we didnt get an email day before or day of our arrival which made communication re key hand off difficult. We were traveling from the US but we are very connected and didnt get any messages. Apt was fine although it requires walking up 3 long staircases (with all our luggage!). But it was a good place to stay and provided a good dining space for a fam meal.

Stinkt nach Kloake! Tolle Lage

Die Wohnung ist super zentral gelegen und ausreichend gross. Die Einrichtung ist spärlich und von minimalster Qualität. Fürchterlich ist der Gestank nach Kloake, der in der ganzen Wohnung dominant ist und sich weder durch Lüften noch durch Benutzen aller Wasserhähne (Füllen aller Syphons) beheben lässt. Die Heizung für den Winter ist zwar vorhanden, aber selbst im Januar ausgeschaltet. Man kann sich etwas mit der Klimaanlage behelfen, aber von den 4 vorhandenen Geräten funktioniert auch nur eines. Im Sommer wird das wohl ähnlich mit der Kühlung sein. Im Ganzen kann ich die Wohnung NICHT empfehlen, trotz der tollen Lage. Sie ist einfach durch mangelnde Pflege kaputtgespart. Schade, die Wohnung hätte ein Juwel sein können.

Comfy and spacious

Dirty, Smelly and Bugs

Our experience. Booking on VRBO was easy. When were about to arrive after hours of travel they said the apartment isn’t ready and not cleaned yet. We were then met by a very nice young man who showed us the apartment. He said “don’t mind the smell as it is the Florence sewer and just let the water run to push it down.” From there he said that the linens were folded on the table so that was a good sign it was clean. Overall: 1. It was so dirty it was hard to deal with 2. The TV actually doesn’t work, have an outlet or cable 3. Had hardly any usable dishes and of those there, they were dirty. No wine opener, basic coffee mugs, maker or anything. 4. Most lights were burnt out 5. The floors were so dirty it was disgusting. We walked momentarily on the floor and our feet were honestly black with dirt. There wasn’t even mops that were clean enough (most had mildew) to even use. 6. My children were coated in bug bites in the morning everyday. The list honestly goes on. Pros: location was superb. Very walkable to all areas. Multiple fantastic restaurants very close by. Overall, I would never go back or recommend this place. It was dirty, damp and smelled horrible of sewer. Very few of the items they said had actually worked. We would have requested to leave with our money back but it is doubtful that would happen and they had a 250 euro deposit. Find a different place that is actually taken care of.

Disappointed

The check was fairly easy. Lorenzo met us at the door and was very kind and helpful. However, the place itself was very underwhelming. Not as pictured. Dirty, dusty floors, old sofa and pillows, sparse and dark overall. Bedroom upstairs had burnt out light bulbs, shower was dark, shower head had little water pressure. The sink didn’t drain properly and left grainy like dirt in sink once drained. Not good lighting for makeup. Toilet paper doesn’t stay on toilet paper stand. Most outlets didn’t work throughout the place. Lacked basic amenities and comfort. There were Mosquitoes in the upstairs room or some sort of insect as I have bites all over my arms and face. My friend had issues with bugs as well. We really wanted to like this place as the location was perfect. But unfortunately it was a real disappointment. I would not recommend this place.

Great Location and Value

The property was as advertised. It is in a great location. The apartment is on the top floor of the building, so it is about 4 long flights of stairs up to the apartment, which itself is a duplex. The two bedrooms on the first floor only have single beds and the second floor bedroom has a queen bed and a single bed. Due to the age of the building, there is a somewhat musty smell and the upstairs bedroom triggered my wife's asthma, so she had to sleep in one of the downstairs bedrooms; opening the windows and airing it out helped. Since we were there in March, it was nice and cool out. I do not know how it would be to stay there in the summer, but I imagine it would get pretty hot in the apartment. The showers are tiny, which is normal for this area. The apartment was clean. The price was very reasonable compared to the hotels in the area. If you don't mind the stairs and the smaller beds and showers (compared to staying in a luxury hotel), then I would recommend this property. The property manager was also very responsive and check-in was very easy (they met us at the apartment to let us in, and give us the keys).

Fabulous location! Great apartment!

We loved our stay in Florence while visiting our study abroad daughter! You could not ask for a better location. Tons of fantastic shopping, restaurants, and cafes nearby. 5 minute walk to the Arno, 10 minute walk to the train station, and 10 minute walk to Duomo. The apartment itself was very clean and a great size for our family of 4. Communication with the SweetStay team was great. All questions answered quickly, and they were flexible with our check in when we missed our flight connection due to an airline security strike in Paris. The things mentioned in a couple of other reviews I would point out as well - the lock to the door is a little tricky. Definitely practice it a few times while being checked in so you are good to go. There is also a smell as you go up stairs to the bedroom - I am sure it's due to the building being hundreds of years old. We opened up the windows and aired it out which definitely helped. Other than those minor things - we had a great stay, loved Florence so much and we can't wait to go back!

Great location

Great location, comfortable home. Be aware that this is on the third floor and heavy luggage is challenging. Also note that the last flight of stairs is very steep. The room with the large bed is on the upper floor of the apartment and large luggage will not fit up the spiral staircase. Lastly, there were charges (city tax) that we were not aware of, $4 per person, that needed to be paid in cash when you arrive. I don't think this was communicated clearly when I rented the apartment. Great location, walkable to everything including the square, shopping and very good restaurants.
