We stayed for a long weekend in mid October and absolutely loved the property. Plenty of room for our family of 5. Great location! Property just as described and we certainly recommend and will stay again asap.

Overall vacation was great! Easy access to amenities and nice condo. Area outside the gates was a bit sketchy - I would recommend Publix and not Walmart.

Bathtub unusable and Wi-Fi did not work

The bathroom attached to the master bedroom has a crack in the tub and cannot be used. We only learned this about 48 hours before check in. The Wi-Fi was changed prior to our visit and would only work for a few minutes before losing signal. Vascasa did a great job getting us a hotspot for the remainder of our stay. Overall beautiful property and location, just upset over the issues.

Folly Beach Getaway

The property itself is great. You can tell it's been remodeled at some point, and for the most part they did a good job. There's some minor issues that need attention, like the kitchen faucet soap dispenser, and the retractable facucet head that doesn't stay put. The kitchen trash can automatic lid doesn't work, and needs replacing. Other than that everything was great. The views are wonderful, and the complex in general is a great location and very quiet. Vacasa is the group that manages this property and they left a little to be desired. There communication is plentiful through text, but reaching on the phone is difficult, and there is an obvious language barrier at times. Everyone was friendly, but you aren't speaking with someone local. The main issue we had was the code to enter the unit. We were give a 10 digit phone number multiple times as the code instead of the 4 digit code the door actually required. I NEVER actually received the code, I just happened to figure it out. When you can't check in early, and you have to, "purchase", a late check out, you want to maximize your time at the actual until when you're only staying 2 nights. The hour plus delay, and Vacasa NEVER actually sending me the correct code caused a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration.

Wanted to love it

When I first checked in there were some minor things. A bug smashed on the wall with blood around it, a pot under the sink catching water, the dishes were all dirty and covered with butter or oil and then the kitchen cabinets all smelled of mildew. These were all Little but annoying things. We were here for a dance nationals and I purposely didn’t stay at a hot so I had my own washer and dryer. But the dryer was broke! I let them know that on Sunday! I had hardly any communication from them, I had to keep following up. Noone ever attempted to fix it, their only solutions was for me to go to a laundromat on our vacation?! With little time to spare. I had to go buy clothes and towels. We didn’t want to over pack since we would have access to the washer/ dryer. I do fully expect some sort of compensation- but still no one from vacasa has reached back out

Needs some work

Nails were sticking up on the steps and the strip between the floor in the downstairs bathroom. There was a large crack in the glass in the master bedroom door to the balcony. There was a pot filled with dirty water under the sink which was catching something that was leaking. The screen was broken on the downstairs porch. We could not use the pool and the workers were blasting their music. We were told they were not supposed to be rented out at this time and another person we spoke to got a P discount. So didn’t we?

Great marina view/ MAJOR & disruptive reno going on! April '23

We love & have stayed at Mariners Cay for decades. Listing stated "Please note that construction will be taking place until January 2023." Once we booked, email confirmation did state: "Also as an FYI, the property presently is undergoing a $9 million update." Maybe we are dense, but we had no idea how disruptive that would be. The entire property is consumed w/ the renovations/ hardie plank piles, concrete drilling & demo (noisy), we had to climb around workers on the stairs up to our condo (not faulting them, they were just doing their jobs), marina view from our living room included workers on scaffolding one day!); pool NOT open. That said, the new siding and paint, new windows, railings all look wonderful & we will be back again but not until all construction is complete. Vacasa communication was excellent; condo was refreshed with new linens, chair cushions, paint. Very comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen. Fabulous dolphin watching; one day there were several right up against the bank feeding and flipping.

Great location but water damage in kitchen and smelled like mold

This property had a great location and we were very excited for our family vacation. We were informed that check in was at 4pm. We arrived a little later around 6pm and once we walked into the condominium we could smell a strong mildew odor downstairs. After looking around and settling in for about and hour, we had noticed black specs and moisture surrounding air conditioning vents. We contacted management and Informed them about the smell and sent pictures of vents. Then we noticed water damage downstairs on the ceiling in the kitchen. This was possibly from a slow leak in plumbing from upstairs bathroom. We asked the property manager if there was another unit available. There was not so we decided to vacate and move our family of SIX to a hotel. We did receive a refund and management was helpful but we were very disappointed to leave.

Would NOT recommend

I should have considered other reviews more when booking this property. There were several issues including the check in process. There was no gate code to get in and the instructions stated that if the “code didn’t work” you could walk to the property to get the FOB. Suggesting you leave your vehicle to walk a quarter mile to the property is not ok. Once there, there was no FOB. After almost an hour of trying to just get into the condo we realized several small issues that needed tending to. Leaking in the ceiling, nails lifted on the stairs, and mildew in all the vents as well as shower curtains is very off putting. This property had a nice pool and a decent walk into Folly Beach. The location was nice with several grocery stores nearby. Although I wouldn’t recommend this property specifically to friends or family the complex is nice and has a great location.

Great location, good communication

My friends and I had a great time spending the weekend in this property. The location is great - 1/2 mile to Folly and 1 mile to the beach so you can definitely walk if you’re not carrying too much. When I booked the property, I thought the pull-out couch bed was a queen, but it turned out to be two twins. Still slept six people but was a surprise for a couple in our group. The listing also said there were key fobs for the front gate, but turns out they’ve begun using only a code. I think the listing/info they send to guests just needs to be updated to reflect more recent changes to ease confusion. Overall great property for a beach trip!

Condo doesn’t look as picture. Very dark on first floor. Communication with property management was poor. It was clean and there is a nice pool.

Top notch view and location

Enjoyed the view and the location. The condo could use a facelift, especially the exterior. My wife nearly broke her leg walking up the dark stairway. Minor, simple fixes, but they really need to be done. Otherwise, it was a good trip and (for the price) we'd do it again.

No frills

The description was pretty accurate, and some reviews were helpful. We felt the property was a bit outdated. Patio furniture isn’t sturdy and was dirty. Ceiling fan in master bedroom didn’t work. The showers were operational. Definitely no frills here, and we were surprised to find out when we got there that we had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get our gear in the “house”. It’s more of a 2 story condo from the 70s. Despite all this, we enjoyed our stay in Folly Beach and would return…just not to this property. The property management company was helpful.

In a Gated Community

Nice place for two people. The super thin towels and tiny bars of soap could use a lot of improvement!! Trying to watch a little tv at night was frustrating, only got basic channels. No ESPN, Golf Channel, Food Network etc. everything needed a subscription!! I asked if property manager could address it, but got no help with that. I wouldn't stay there again.

Be warned. Small details that add up into major problems

The location is amazing and it was so peaceful. That is the only good thing about this property. We were not given a pool key so we ( my 4 year old grandkid) weren’t able to use the swimming pool. We received numerous excuses on why we didn’t get one and they finally gave a small refund for the inconvenience. The pull out sofa bed was not a queen (as it was referenced), it was a single and very hard to sleep on. The mattresses were older and while they were clean and bug free, you could feel the springs when laying down. The living room lamp was broken and the toilet lid in the upstairs bathroom was missing. We were told a maintenance guy would come out to fix those issues and they never showed. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor regarding our stay and never heard from them again. There were small nails sticking out of the stairs and had to be careful not to step on them after my son stepped on them numerous times. Overall was extremely disappointed in this unit and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless you’re used to getting let down. The photos didn’t match the actual condition. The photos showed carpet in the place but it wasn’t. The furniture was completely different. I would give the place a 3 out if 10.

Great stay for low key bachelorette party

Clean, good size with just about everything you would need. Had to get paper towels, hand soap and extra toilet paper at the store but otherwise everything was there that we needed. Easy 15min walk to the beach and Folly. We had a car which made it even easier. Nice place to stay safe, clean, spacious, good location - saw dolphins in the river one morning too!!
