A convenient motel with all the facilities we needed for self-catering in the centre of Fox Glacier and an easy drive to all the major tourist attractions. We were only there one night but would have been happy to use as a base for a longer stay.

We asked for better pillows as the pillows were flat as pancakes and there wasn’t a selection in the room, it seemed to be a hassle to the staff at the front desk when asked for better pillows, the room was clean and comfortable and well equipped

The staff, a Chinese young man (forgot to ask his name) is very friendly and helpful. He introduced the small town to us, like where to go for what, when we first checked in. The room is spacious and clean, good for 3 of us. -=

Having a microwave AND an electric skillet was a strong plus. Beds were comfortable and room dated but clean. The only negative was the shower which was wheelchair accessible. Because of the bathroom floor slope, certain positions of the detachable shower head could lead to water heading toward the door and not the drain. Given the warped wood at the bottom of the bathroom door, this problem occurs regularly. Check-in was fast and clerk courteous.

Arrived late and staff had left key in our room for us to check in which was a bit odd but it was around 9:00 PM when we arrived. We discovered on arrival that there was a boil notice in effect so no water unless we boiled it and even then that is not an appealing option. No prior notice of the boil and no water left in room to help out people who are surprised and now have no way to get water. Rooms were large but a bit run down. We were in NZ for two weeks and this was our least favorite stay. We were safe and had a place to sleep. Best part was the silly Kea parrot that tried to follow us into our room. Those are some goofy birds.
