Fuengirola Beach

Fuengirola Beach
Relax, try some watersports, sip cocktails and explore an ancient castle when you visit this extensive and well-maintained seaside haven.

Once you have found your sandy sanctuary at Fuengirola Beach roll out your towel or rent a sun lounger and umbrella.

Try watersports such as waterskiing and parasailing that are available on many of the beaches. Rent a pedal boat and cruise the sea at your own pace. Then relax with a drink and a fresh fish dish at one of the beach bars, known in Spanish as chiringuitos.

Get the sand between your toes with a walk along the shoreline. You can also go for a sand-free stroll on the Paseo Maritimo Rey de España, the seaside town's promenade. It is lined with bars, cafés, apartment blocks and restaurants. Browse through shops where you can buy beach items, newspapers and souvenirs.

Stop at the port to the north, where you’ll find more shops, restaurants and places to rent watersports equipment. Walk along the quays and admire motor yachts or arrange a fishing charter trip. Ferries to many spots along the Spanish coastline depart from the port.

Sitting on top of a hill at the southwest end of Fuengirola Beach is the Castle of Sohail. Tour the ancient stronghold, which has a fascinating history that stretches back more than 1,000 years.

If you are in the mood to party at night, head for Playa de Santa Amalia near the castle. The beach is home to several nightclubs.

Fuengirola Beach is south of the city center of Fuengirola. The sandy stretch starts within easy walking distance of many places in the town. Alternatively, arrive by bus, taxi or rental car. Street parking is available for a fee and as are places in car parks located near the beach. Parking spaces on the seafront fill up very quickly during Easter, July and August.
