Peaceful Stay in Governors Harbor

This home is in the perfect location and the most well maintained and furnished home we have stayed in in the Family Islands. Dom is the perfect host and ensured we knew all the best places to visit. The house had everything we needed and kept cool on hot days. The golf cart was a huge bonus. We have never had that amenity and it was so fun to take that to the beach. We also loved watching the stars on the roof deck and grilling by the pool. We will try to stay here again.

Gorgeous home with a view

This property was exactly as described. It is, indeed, elegant. Location was fantastic -- easy to get to French Leave Beach on the golf cart provided, and an easy walk (or drive) to restaurants, grocery stores and such. We loved the house-- nice layout with enough space to find privacy when you want it and plenty of space to gather as a family comfortably. Bright and airy, the stylish decor is pitch perfect. The property manager was very responsive and welcoming, making us feel at home.And, a big plus on Eleuthera when the weather is rainy and very windy: the home has a generator! An important perk when the power goes off on the island. Would absolutely recommend and would stay again!

Tops House is TOPS!

First off the Tops House is amazing! Perfect for two couples with both rooms ensuite. The kitchen is fully stocked. We cooked 7 out of eight nights. The Eleuthera Supply down the hill has a great selection but is cash only.. Burrows is just down the main highway a couple of blocks and takes credit cards. And if you like fish make sure you get Hendrix's phone number from Dom. Dom and Joy were awesome. Informative. Always available but not intrusive at all. Dom's orientation on arrival was key to our great time on the island. Alabastar beach was our top choice but we also like Ten Bay and French Leave Beach. We chartered a 1/2 day with Captaib Bubba of Fishbone Tours. I would suggest you agree on a plan before you charter. We winged it, was fun to be on the water but could have been better. Two pieces of advice... bring lots of cash as it is very expensive and if you are renting a car be forewarned of the pot holes. We had TWO flats on the way in to Governors Harbour. And we saw at least 4 cars on the way back to the AP with flat tires. The good news is the locals are super friendly and helpful! All in all, Tops is TOP!

Fantastic place!

Joy and Dom are terrific hosts! They were communicative through the whole process and nice to work with. The house was beautiful, updated and well appointed. The pictures are very accurate and the pool was relaxing. The beach right by the house was one of our favorites we visited.

Tops House at Governors Estate is the place to be in Eleuthera

At first we had our doubts for renting this property because of the many options you get for renting beachfront houses, however we decided to go to Tops House because the pictures showed a very nice House, just the way we like it ... and when we got there, guess what... the house is better than the pictures, every part of the house, every piece of furniture, linings, decoration, equipment, etc. no to mention an absolute cleanliness up to the detail. We felt soooo comfortable in every space of the house. In tops house you also get everything you need to go to the beach, beach chairs (many), beach umbrellas, portable coolers to pack your cold drinks, snorkeling kits for the kids, and more... A short 2' drive with the golf cart and you get to French Leave Beach, one of the most beautiful pink sand beaches we visited, with balanced waves (not too small, not too rough) that my daughters enjoyed very much. Don't hesitate in renting this house, you won't regret it!

The pictures online of the Top House do not do it justice; you must see it in person to get a true experience of houses' beautiful decor and design. All I can say is book a stay and you will not be disappointed by house or the wonderful staff that help make your stay worry free!

Great Property

We had a really great time at Tops House. It was well kept, updated, everything WORKED (even the air conditioning!). The decor is really nice and we felt as home. Kitchen was well stocked also. The hosts are wonderful and were available to us if needed - but otherwise invisible. I highly recommend choosing Tops House.

This house was such a treat. Big, beautiful beach decor, comfy beds and right in the heart of the town. We started and ended every day with a dip in the pool. Dominic and Joy had an incredible book of beach options and they were spot-on. Such a fabulous stay in Eleuthera. We’ll be back!

Perfection!

Sadly we left our home away from home yesterday and already trying to plan a trip back to Tops House! The location is perfect and the house very comfortable for the two of us. The house was exactly as you see in the photos and spotless which makes this a 5 star rental. The bonus is the resident kitty who visited us several times a day! Having the golf cart is a huge plus since the walk to French Leave beach in humidity and full sun could be challenging! Although there was construction at a lot next to the GH properties which started at 7 am, 7 days a week, it wasn’t too bad since we were gone all day. Don’t let this deter you from renting the benefits of the house outweigh the construction. A big thank you to Dominic and Joy (property managers) who were available at any time.

We've been fortunate to travel and stay in Governor's Harbour on multiple occasions, and this was the nicest, most accommodating stay that we've had. From the house, to our hosts, Joy & Dom, to the owners, Kathy & Bob, all exceeded our expectations and they could not have been more gracious during our stay. The Best Vacation I've Ever Had

Tops is tops. The house is modern, but equally comfortable and well-equipped. During our stay, we frequented restaurants, but mostly cooked in the wonderful kitchen. There were three of us, and the house has three bathrooms. There is a washer and dryer which came in useful toward the end of our amazing ten-day stay. Kathy and Bob, the owners, were incredibly helpful. When we arrived, there was a wonderful lasagne, wine, water, and beer waiting for us. Kathy came over and provided vital information, giving a cell phone to us for local calls, recommending markets and restaurants. We have so many favorites, from Friday night happy hour at Bacchus Fine Foods and Wine to the beautiful bay front restaurant, 1648. We loved getting cocktails at The Buccaneer, talking with locals, and eating breakfast at the bottom of the hill, at Da Perk. Tops is at the top of the hill in Governor's Harbour, a short walk west to groceries and restaurants or a short walk east to the beach. The house is centrally located on the island with all the amenities of home. We were able to travel north and south, to the Blue Hole (a 600 ft-deep swimming hole affected by the tides), to Rock Sound, which has a great grocery and liquor store (south), and then north to James Cistern, Rainbow Bay, Surfer's Beach, and to Hatchet's Cave (not to be missed). The snorkeling was shallow, but incredible at Rainbow Bay when the wind was blowing out of the east. LeoRose is a great roadside place on the Queen's Highway to sidle up to the bar for a drink, some pumpkin rice, and admire the Caribbean sea. Gregory Town has great shopping, Handmade in Bahamas was an amazing place. I got some Batik fabric. There is also a wonderful bakery, but nothing rivals the bakery in Governor's Harbour. Don't miss out. It's scrumptious and SUPER affordable. Also, go to Island Farm (south, but not far from Governor's Harboour.) Just down the road from Tops is the most beautiful beach on the whole island, French Leave. We snorkeled and swam there as much as possible. Tippy's Bar and Restaurant, on the southern end of French Leave is great for a cocktail with a stellar view. We meant to eat there, but didn't get to it on this trip. Next trip for sure! I can't say enough about Tops. The home, the landscaping, the pool, were fantastic, whether you want to just relax and stay central in Governor's Harbour or go off exploring, you can't beat returning to Tops.

We LOVED our stay at Tops House.....everything about the house was wonderful, it is very clean and well-maintained. The decorating is beautiful but also welcoming and comfortable. It is well equipped, has very comfortable beds and a great kitchen. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the shaded decks lovely, the pool an added bonus and having a grill was great. Beautiful breezes flowed through the house, the evenings were so quiet and peaceful with beautiful stars in the sky. We have stayed at many rentals on a Eleuthera over the years and Tops is our favorite so far - we would gladly go back! Kathy and Bob are very lovely and friendly hosts, they take obvious pride in their properties. The location of Tops is perfect. Hilltop provides nice breezes. You can walk into town for supplies, bakery, exploring and quite a few restaurants and also in the other direction to beautiful French Leave beach. We recommend a vehicle for exploring and those times you would rather not walk or cart supplies/beach gear up the hill. We visited many beaches on the island and French Leave is our favorite with Ten Bay a great option if the waves are up on the Atlantic. Went to Preachers cave, Glass Window and Queens Baths, Harbour Island where we honeymooned many years ago was fun to visit for a day but we would not want to stay there, too busy (Sip Sip restaurant so good!). Don't miss the amazing bread, sauces and veggies at Island Farm and if you are up North there is a great little fruit and veggie stand in Bogue and a good sized grocery store near Bluff. So much fun, already planning next year!
