We had a lovely holiday break at the bungalow ' Henry's Retreat', We actually had not seen a photograph of the bungalow as the photographer had been delayed so we took a chance and we were not at all disappointed :) ! We had a nice welcome basket waiting for us on arrival, favorites were the local eggs and yummy chocolate cake :) We were met by the owner who left us the keys and showed us around and was just a phone call away if we needed anything. The bungalow is welcoming and very homely, larger than you expect, an amazing bathroom, it does include a bath, we did not think it did as it was not listed when we booked it, it has a traditional but modern look inside and is exceptionally clean and is filled with everything you need in a home from home, seriously, everything you need! . The living rooms are very relaxing and there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out..good for teenagers!!Very good internet connection, Netflix etc for the times when it was needed and for route finding on google maps! There is a large front drive on drive off driveway with plenty of space, we had to take my partners large van and my small car to get the bikes etc in and the owner Penny was very welcoming. The garden is big, beautiful and well maintained with a pond, large patio table and fruit trees and there is an enclosed garden and seating area at the back. This was perfect for us as we had two dogs, an add on bonus is the field at the back of the house which is also belongs to the bungalow owners, perfect :) . The bungalow itself is surrounded by quiet lanes and bridle paths and fields so plenty of nice evening walks and beautiful views. There is a good fishing lake, Lavington Lake, which is good fun, very friendly, and literally 5 mins walk away. It is a very quiet area and there are a few nice pubs but a vehicle is a must as a lot of things need to be driven to. We visited a few places including Wollaton Hall and Deer Park which is dog friendly and a nice day out and went to see the interesting Heckington Windmill, we had a few visits to the coast and visited Moggs Eye Beach which is nice with a picnic area and free parking. This is a good 1 1/2 hours drive and we also visited Skegness sea front and beach. The Range and Country Airgun club was a favourite with my partner and our son, this was about 20 mins drive from where we were and where they do good, reasonably priced sessions for non members. Lots of chance here to cycle and walk.. or just bbq in the bungalow garden or look at the stars, the skies are so clear, we enjoyed some fab chill time and our dogs just loved the space and freedom. It is perfect for just relaxing and taking in the fresh air. If you need anything then Grantham is close by with a good range of shops and Melton Mowbray is not too far away. We would definately visit again!
