Abbey Sands Hotel

"Before arriving at the property, I specifically asked whether I could have a quiet room. A member of staff responded that I would be given a room on the third floor. The room itself was quiet, so initially I was pleased. However, the guests staying directly across the corridor had a dog, which started barking very early in the morning. As a result, getting any proper sleep was practically impossible. I had specifically made the request for a quiet room in advance, so it was disappointing that the hotel did not take into consideration the possibility of placing me away from a room with a barking dog. The room itself may have been quiet, but the overall experience was far from restful."

"Lovely stay, breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was kept nice and hot. We had Room 328 which was very bright and airy with panoramic views, the station, cricket ground and a corner view of the sea. The shower over the bath proved to be tricky in getting the right temperature without being scolded or it turning freezing cold, hence this took about 10/15 mins each day! Bed should be replaced, has probably seen better days as it was very squishy and bouncy, however, this did not ruin our stay. Both of the pools were very good as were the new changing rooms. Staff in the Compass Bar were very helpful and worked well in their roles, especially Ahmed who was always smiling, polite and helpful. Check-in staff were always professional and helpful."
