The cabin is very clean, comfortable and with everything you may need. The view of the river is great.I agree with bringing bottled water as the first day there was an unpleasant odor. That said, no issues with water on day 2.This place likely can’t be beat for a summer stay or as a hunters upgraded cabin.

We had a really nice stay at this cottage! It was a tight fit inside for our group of 10 (enough bed space to do it though), but there was plenty of room to spread out outside during the day. It has the feel of a lived-in, loved family cottage, which I typically prefer in a rental property (think quirky and mismatched decor, lots of board games and kids' toys to enjoy, tons of towels and anything else you might need for your stay). The outdoor space was beautiful, serene, and felt very secluded. The river was a little low during our stay, only about 4 feet at the deepest point straight out from the cottage. We talked to a few neighbors who kayaked by, and they said the river was a about 4 feet lower than its typical depth. We caught some smallmouth bass from the shore. The kids caught crayfish for hours. We saw tons of birds and other wildlife. We took a few excursions during our stay- including a canoeing trip on the Pere Marquette River from Baldwin and renting a pontoon on Lake Cadillac for the afternoon.

Beautiful spot on the river! 15 minutes from the tubing drop in. Host was kind and attentive. No air conditioning but plenty of fans available for hot days. Nice pleasant girls weekend for 5! Thank you!

Great secluded cottage right along the river!

The cottage had 3 spacious bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a gas grill. It has a private beach located on the beautiful Muskegon River. The owner had a great suggestion for tubing down the river which my party all enjoyed thoroughly. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a secluded waterfront getaway!

Great Getaway

Great little cottage.

Exactly what we wanted!

We are thinking about buying a cabin on the river in this area, so wanted to try it out for two weeks. The first weekend was just my husband and I, the second, our whole family came, including adult children and two grandchildren (ages 5 and 1). We had a fantastic time, and loved being right on the river. We kayaked, played yard games, played in the river and in the plentiful sand in the yard. Lots of seating (loved the light-weight Adirondack chairs!), kitchen was well-stocked, lots of beds (with clean bedding, which I really appreciated!). The crib and toddler bed were perfect for the little ones. Two full bathrooms were great. The living area inside is a little tight for a big group, but we were lucky that the weather was great the whole time we were there, so we were only inside to cook and sleep. Communication with the owner was fantastic, and they were responsive to a few issues we had. Missing the river already - hopefully we'll be back soon, either to rent here again or to buy nearby! What a beautiful spot!

July family vacation

The cottage on the River was very nice and secluded for privacy. Our family and grandchildren enjoyed our time there. We enjoyed multiple kayak trips and ORV trails. Nice splash pad and park next town over. Nice lake to swim and boat in nearby town. Owner very helpful with our questions and needs.

Relaxing Cabin - Great Stay

I brought my kids to stay for a short boys weekend and we had a great time. Cabin was clean and we were surprised that it looked nicer than the pictures online. The river was great. The kids had a blast swimming and finding rocks. Will be back!

Perfect location! Needs cleaning

Our small group of friends had a great time at this cozy river spot & kayaked from Evart. Good space and had most everything we needed. Few things that need to be improved was cleanliness (hairs everywhere, shower drain is pretty clogged and water sits, found old socks and a bandaid in the bedroom & kitchen). I also highly recommend bringing your own drinking water. Luckily we did this, the water smells of sulfur (eggs) and is quite yellow. Also prepare for the heat, the ceiling fans help but it was very hot during this 90 degree June weekend. Bring bug spray! Quiet and quaint spot in a great location. With a few improvements on cleanliness I would recommend!

So peaceful!

This place is great! We loved sitting out on the deck and watching the river. It was so nice and quiet. It was perfect for a peaceful getaway. We saw a lot of bunnies and listening to the birds in the morning was great.

Hersey cottage

Cozy cottage, was a bit small for 8 but we were outside all weekend fishing, kayaking, bonfire, and grilling…..it was great. Very relaxing, we loved the River so close and was really nice. We really were only inside to shower, sleep and breakfast. Kitchen was well stocked and we found everything we needed. No AC though so it did get warm upstairs but there was fans and ceiling fans so that helped. We really loved the location and had a great Memorial weekend. Thank you Diann

Excellent spot for a river front getaway

My husband and I and two other couples rented this quaint riverfront cottage for our annual getaway. We were thrilled with the ability to put our kayaks in right at the property for a nice 2ish hr paddle each day. The amenities were perfect for us as we wanted to check out but also needed to be accessible to babysitters and whatnot so having wifi was a definite bonus. Diann was quick with communications and a joy to work with as a renter.
