"The staff was very helpful especially for checking on whether places were open and on obtaining a taxi. The rooms lack places to put your clothes and lack suitcases stands so one must plan to use the limited supply of hangars and live out of a suitcase. The showers are handheld so one might instead plan to use the open facilities and hot baths. The food was excellent and help is available everywhere."

"Large hotel with amazing views of the lake. However amenities a little dated. We felt the beds and the lounge area in our room could have been swapped around to get the best view when relaxing with a drink rather than while asleep. Excellent location despite a little long walk to the station ( realise there was a shuttle available but prefer to walk) Bathroom needs an upgrade."

"Having a private bath in the patio was great. Staff was courteous and friendly, the food was excellent, and having three different open air hot spring was a plus. Ideal for solo travelers."

"Our whole family loved the stay. Breakfast and kaiseki dinner were great! Onsen in our room was just amazing, I enjoyed every moment of it. Hotel staff was very helpful and rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel itself is a bit off the beaten path and after stampede of tourists in Kyoto offers a calm refuge. If you can rent a car or afford taxi, you can visit all kinds of amazing places without any crowds."

"Fantastic place to stay for my first time in Japan after being in Tokyo. This place receives forwarded luggage, staff are very helpful/kind, the property is easy to navigate, and the shuttle system was great. The shuttle was very helpful getting back and forth from the station. Also, they have a cell phone at the station to call for the shuttle so no need to worry if you don’t have a Japanese phone number. Would stay again and recommend it to foreigners wanting to have a Ryokan experience. Get the half board option because the food was amazing!"

"Not the best hotel, pictures don’t do justice, the building itself is in poor condition the bed and pillow really uncomfortable. Will not be staying there again and it is too far from tourist attractions. "
