"Room was huge as with Ryokan style accommodation and generally clean, What great is the reservation system for onsen so you can have a private slot for yourself/family instead of the usually gender sharing arrangement. It is about 10-15 minutes walk to Yunotsubo Kaido and 5 minutes to the train station and Aeon supermart. Unlike some osen town eg. Hakone, there is plenty of food option at night."

"Situated in a scenic location with an unbelievable view over the surrounding mountains including mt Yufu. Very steep road up and easy to miss off the main road. Parking lot is good and was never crowded. Room was very spacious with 3 private onsens, though you’d only be using the outside ones purely for the surrounding views and sounds of nature! Kamenoi Hotel Aso

10/10 Excellent

"We had a great time at the hotel. It is very quiet and the location is amazing. We really enjoyed the buffet dinner and breakfast and the onsen was a great way to start and end the day! Our room was spacious (twin beds) with a great view of the mountain. We will definitely come back if we ever come back in the area. We even considered extending our stay but couldn’t because of other plans. Highly recommended for a relaxing time."

Hitaonsen Hananoki River Terrace

10/10 Excellent

"We opted to include the half board meals (dinner and breakfast) which was an excellent choice. Dinner was amazing with so many delightful Japanese dishes that were beautifully presented. We didn’t think we could finish it all but we managed! The hot spring included the large main bath, outdoor, bubble, waterfall, and the cold baths as well as two types of saunas. Playing table tennis in yukata was also fun. We are glad we stayed here."
