Royal Kona Resort

"I arrived about 3 hours prior to check in time and the resort staff was kind enough to allow me to check in early. The room was clean and comfortable, balcony with a gorgeous ocean view and strong AC in the rooms if desired. Close to all downtown Kona restaurants and shops. The resort restaurant also had great food and cocktails and frequent fun live music and events. I traveled alone as a female here and felt completely safe in the area and walking around hotel property even after dark. Fitness center on site also was clean and had a lot of machines and equipment for a hotel gym. Truly enjoyed my stay here at the Royal Kona Resort."

"Our trip to the Big Island was a last minute switch from Kauai due to storms. It was our first time on Hawaii Island, and we hadn't done any research in advance. The Mauna Lani turned out to be a perfect basecamp from which to explore the island's volcanos, beaches, oceans, tidepools, and history. It was luxurious without being fussy. The staff were almost without exception were warm and helpful. Our room had a beachfront view that was gorgeous, and a large lanai from which to enjoy it. I'm not sure if it was because the hotel was not at full capacity, but our room was very quiet, and our every need was met instantly upon request. We had so much fun!"

"What I liked the most about was the cleanness and hospitality of the staff working on the floor. What I didn’t like about it was the long check in process which took a while. We expected a faster check in with the baby but it simply didn’t happen and we had to wait until a room was available. There were no free umbrellas at the beach front. The chairs with the canopy were $175 each to rent for a day to stay out of the sun when not in the water."

"This was a very nice place. I was actually pleasantly surprised considering the price was more in line with a hotel rather than a resort. I did not realize though, that it is a time share and i was asked to attend a 90 minute presentation which i did not go to. I would stay there again with no hesitation."
