“Wataya = WOW! From the second we arrive... I'm so happy Aaron chose this place.
The staff is a family that has owned and operated this wonderful house for 7 generations!
We chill in the onsen chatting loudly as we are the only guests today, return to the room to relax looking at the garden during twilight.
Dinner is served! We did a poor job at informing them of my friend's restricted diet... The proprieter is so generous! She grabs a frozen pizza from her home to feed my buddy...

“Our room was spacious and very clean. The private onsen was large and very comfortable, looking out over the river but completely private. We had the kaiseki dinner each night which was elaborate and delicious.
The town of Yamanaka is very pretty with fun row of shops specialising in lacquer wear and pottery, some cafes, the usual restaurants and a big public men's and women's bath, along with a beautiful walk in the gorge along the river. All of this is within 5-15 minutes walk of the hotel.……
