James Douglas built the Little Daisy Hotel for his miners and the two neighboring properties - One for his Engineer and The Villa Contenta for the foreman of the mine. All three sit on the hillside above his private Mansion, which is now a state park. The mines closed in 1953, forever changing their original intended use.
