"The Eden Farm Ranch on Johns Island was by far one of the best places we have stayed. It was the perfect getaway to relax. We enjoyed feeding carrots to the horses and being introduced to all the other animals. Such a peaceful place to stay.Our hosts Denise and Tanya were the best hosts. The fridge and pantries were stocked with everything you could possibly need: fresh eggs from the chickens, fresh tomatoes from the garden to name just a few items. This was a place I would definitely recommend...

"Our hotel room was beautiful. did not know we had to climb stairs to get to it but that was not a super big deal. We did have air conditioning issues. AC was freezing up by morning. We like our room cold and by morning the temp would be 75 from 70. The staff helped and gave us reasonable explanation finally. So we just turned off the unit in the morning so it would not freeze up. Just a hassle but the room stayed relatively cool. We got locked out after 2 nights; they didn't program our keys for a 4 nite stay. That wasn't good. The good stuff is the buildings are beautiful great for pics and very comfy. The mimosa and chocolate covered fruit bar on weekends was fabulous. Coffee in the mornings. Surprising continental breakfast every morning on our door (2 croissants, 2 muffins, banana apple butter and jelly) Very nice. Rooftop bar was nice. Great view and good drinks. We liked the location too. Not far from many restaurants and market and the water. we got a very nice welcome when we arrived. that was special."

"Pretty bare bones. Hallway had stacked boxes of supplies and needed vacuuming. Room door had a quarter-inch gap when closed, so anyone entering a nearby room seemed to be coming into ours. Box spring was almost comically noisy when sitting on the bed."

Tides Folly Beach, Charleston's Oceanfront Hotel

"Summary: Extremely overpriced beach motel parading as a luxury resort. (But with A+ staff!) Positives: The staff!!! Everyone we encountered was above-and-beyond nice and helpful. Also, you absolutely cannot beat the location. The beach chairs were a great perk. Negatives: They're the only game in town and they clearly know it (charge whatever they want and provide as little as they want). At this price point, we were expecting a luxury accommodation and instead were met with basically a dingy seaside motel. We were super excited about our oceanfront room but the windows were FILTHY. You really couldn't enjoy the view. We also chose this hotel because of the refrigerator (we're on a road trip with a cooler full of food), but couldn't access the freezer at all, or 25% of the refrigerator, because it was completely frozen solid in a block of ice. We had no cold packs for the next leg of our drive and had to get rid of a lot of food. If you have plenty of money to burn and can manage your expectations appropriately, you'll enjoy the location."
