"We spent a week at this lovely holiday home. It's comprised of 2 2-bedroomed cottages attached to each other but with separate kitchen and bathroom facilities. This worked brilliantly for our family of 3 teenagers and 2 adults., plus our dog. There's a beautiful courtyard as well as stunning garden with bbq, large decking area and plunge pool. "Beautiful authenthic house in Brenne located next du Maison du Parc of the Brenne nature reserve were walks into the reserve start. Lot of lakes were birds and other animals thrive. The house has everything you need and a magnificent garden. Our dogs also liked it. For the kids the area got a bit boring after a couple of days of walking and birding as most lakes were private so we bought stuff were they could play with in the garden. The house was the old donkey house and is nicely restored....

"We stayed at Walnut Lodge from 22nd to 29th July 2025 while attending a wedding at a nearby château just 5 minutes away—and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The location was absolutely ideal, tucked away in a peaceful setting yet just 10 minutes from La Roche-Posay, home to an incredible spa, casino, and plenty of local shops and restaurants serving fantastic food.There’s also a lovely market held twice a week that’s well worth a visit.Our hosts, Lisa and Bryan, were exceptional from start to finish. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their beautiful home and gîtes—set against a stunning backdrop—were truly a sight for sore eyes. The pool was perfect (when the rain held off!), and what really made our stay extra special was their offer to transport us to and from the wedding, which was a massive help and so appreciated.And of course, we can’t forget Frankie, their friendly French Bulldog, who greeted us with a wag and a warm welcome every time we returned.If you’re looking for a peaceful, unique, and welcoming experience in the French countryside, we’d recommend Lisa and Bryan’s Walnut Lodge again and again.
