A house you could live in

Beautifully decorated, fully equipped kitchen , comfortable beds. Neighborhood is quiet with gorgeous landscaping. All beach gear provided but rent your own masks. The beach club is great but far from the house so rent a car. If you want to walk to a beach, go through the Fairmont Orchid. We so appreciate the hosts for sharing their gorgeous home.

Clean, Convenient, in Kamilo

This property is quite nice, and comes with the percs normally available in Mauna Lani. Additionally there is a golf cart which is a great plus. Only downside is the management company. There was no beach card or ice chest when we arrived. The beach pass was delivered 2 days later, and the the ice chest 5 days later. The "on island" representative never returned my calls.

Family get away

We booked this for our family specifically because it had 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms then there would absolutely no fighting for bathroom space. The property is in a beautiful community and is very well kept. Very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 teens. This was our first time to the Big Island as we usually go to Maui but the big island did not disappoint. There are plenty of beach chairs, snorkels, umbrellas and floaters for everyone. The private access beach is very nice and easy to get to by car. There is also a Foodland close to the community entrance for grabbing the essentials. Costco is about 1/2 hr drive away. Activities such as snorkeling can be done at the private beach as well as by boat which is about a 1/2 hr drive from the property. The pools are and easy walk from the property and have a few shaded areas to lounge at. Both pools were well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.

Excellent Location

This is our 3rd time staying on the Kamilo property. The amenities are great and the surrounding location is perfect. Access to the Mauni Lani Beach Club is a great plus to staying here.

Good condo, great location.

Good value for what we paid. A few annoying factors included: the only electrical outlet in the 2nd bedroom bath did not work; the garbage disposal sprung a leak under the sink; several patio furniture cushions were ripped and three chair cushions were missing. Maintenance responded promptly, replaced the GD and fixed the leak. Overall, we would book again and recommend to our friends.

Comfortable and close to pool

Good home for friends and family, close to pool, great area. This was my 4th time staying in Kamilo but my 1st time in a 3bedroom (usually rent a 4bed 2 story). The house had plenty of room, was clean, and comfortable. It was an easy 2min walk to the pool/fitness area which is perect after a long day in the sun. The house had 2 boogie boards, a variety of snorkel and water shoes we borroed for fun at the beach. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and there was extra paper towels in the garage. Overwall, I would stay here again in without hestiation. For the knit pickers, a few very minor annoyances. 1. No garage door opener - You park in the driveway then have to walk around someone elses garage pod and between other peoples cars to to get to the front door. Would ne bice to have been abel to go straight through the garage. 2. The A/C was programmed to change to 85F every few hours even at night. Use temp hold to lock temp at 75 and remember to re-enable hold every tume. 3. Cell (Tmobile) reception spotty from within the house Oct 2022

Beautiful space, great pool area, Manager was extremely helpful and accommodating.

We loved our stay. Love the location and having a garage was so helpful. Condo very well appointed, attractive. All the bells and whistles any Hawaii vacationer would need. Pool area was a huge plus for our family! Very responsive, helpful manager. Loved it!!

Best spot in the Big Island

Second time staying at this property. Great location in a great resort. Very close to the pool and the best lanai to BBQ up the fresh catch of the day.

Two weeks on the Big I

Close proximity to Beautiful pools , clean , especially adult . Nice spacious condo . Needed to contact PM for several items . Non cleaning DW after I pulled spray arms and tub filter , someone had removed drip pan in bbq making a big mess , bbq replaced during our stay . I wanted to vacuum more often but very poor quality vacuums make more dust than not vacumming at all . In short , Condo is nice and situated well but some attention to peripheral items is needed . No tv in master and family tv area needs better layout , no comfy furniture to kick back and relax .

Great neighborhood, loved the proximity to The Fairmont (which has tennis, great beach walk, good restaurants, etc.), the common area pool was very nice and never crowded, great grocery story 1 mile away (plus coffee and smoothies). House was a nice size and so nice for each bedroom to have a bathroom. Perfect for the 6 of us. Good value (other than all the taxes and fees that get added to the rental cost, which is common but still annoying). Some additions that would be great include better furniture in living room, TV in master bedroom, and bikes (noticed many of the other rentals include bikes, which would be very handy.) Would be great for the property management company to check in with guests in-person and explain the amenities (like the beach club, etc.) rather than rely on the binder. Overall, we had a great stay.

beautiful home, great location, sub par appliances.

The house was lovely, location was great! We used the pool and hot tub, very handy with a 9 year old. Also had beach club access to a great little snorkel spot. We were a little disappointed but the appliances...the dishwasher was essentially useless, even after we pre rinsed everything they came out greasy and still dirty, we ended up hand washing everything. The fridge had a slight leak, nothing major by the egg cartons were always soaked through. The washing machine would bounce forward while in use, making it impossible to open the closet door. The dryer had to be run a minimum of twice to dry anything, especially heavier loads like towels. Also the lawn furniture was wicker and well past its prime, pieces were sticking out on all sides and we suffered a few minor scratches. To be fair, we did not call and report each of these problems because none were deal breakers and we didn't want to have repairmen in the entire time. Our second day we realized the kitchen sink was leaking underneath..I called our vrbo rep and she sent someone with in the hour...I do believe they would have been as accommodating about a few of our other issues if we'd pursued it. The home was bright and clean, our only complaint in that department was the area around the kitchen faucet was very grungy and we were grossed out. In our 9 night stay we received notices that the water would be shut off for one day, the pool closed for one day and they were spraying the yards with chemicals one day...We felt that that could have been better spaced out so that the same travellers weren't being affected by all..But we do understand and appreciate that maintenance is required. Over all we were happy with the location, pool/hot tub area and the size/layout of the house. It was very well stocked with towels, beach items, soap, shampoo, dish/laundry soap etc. For the price we were disappointed by the issues previously mentioned though.

Nice Cottage but Missing Elements

This our fourth stay in the Kamilo develpment, which we prefer when our adult children are participating in the Hawaii 70.3 Ironman that ends on the Fairmount Hotel property. We have stayed in a different rental each time. This cottage is nice but does not earn five stars from us because it lacks any televisions in the bedrooms, has beds in the secondary bedrooms that we believe are below the standard of other rentals we have experienced at Kamilo, and has comfortable seating in the living area for only five adults in a rental that is advertised for six people. It was particularly troubling to notice the lack of a television in the master suite on this trip because my wife is recovering from major knee surgery and had no TV to watch while keeping her knee elevated in the master bed.

Clean, attractive home

We enjoyed this home, plenty big for a family of six and close to many shops/beaches. Only suggestion is maybe purchasing more silverware, cups for the kitchen as we went through them quickly. Thanks again!!

luxurious and modern escape to paradise!

What a luxurious and modern escape to paradise! This beach house boasts of immaculately clean and top notch utilities. My daughter especially loved the bathroom retreat which consists of a relaxing shower with tall modern showers. It’s almost like going to a Spa. The airy and open living room leads to an outside patio with stunning views and a beautiful garden. Step out at in the warm Hawaiian night and you will be greeted with the amazing aromas of the plants and you will witness the spectacular views of the moon. Take a walk in the neighborhood surrounded by picturesque flower trees and exquisite gardens that will lead you to contemporary amenities and swimming pools. The property manager was very accommodating and immediately replied to all our questions. We cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay in this beach house. We will recommend this place to family and friends who are looking for a place in the Big Island!!!

Exceptionally well-appointed and virtually brand new house

We rented this villa for 9 days in June 2017. It was perfect for our family, including our 2 and 4 year-old children. The villa looks and feels brand new. Very nicely furnished/decorated, and comes with every kitchen tool imaginable. Felt private even though it is nestled in with other villas. The patio and grass area outside the back door were great for afternoon snacks and kids' playtime. The connected garage made things very convenient for loading/unloading. Check in/check out was seamless.

Couldn't Have Asked For Anything More

We were extremely impressed with the décor, spaciousness and amenities in this cottage. It was very tastefully decorated and appropriate for a beach setting. Our party included 2 adults and 3 children (7, 11, 13), and this cottage met all of our needs. Plenty of room for everyone to go off on their own for quiet time, but also a great gathering space in the kitchen and family room. It was conveniently located 30 minutes from the airport and within 5 minutes of a really nice grocery store located in an outdoor shopping mall. We stocked up at a box store in Kona, but it was convenient to go to this store for snacks and prepared meals. We did have some issues with the gate and the front door upon arrival, but keep in mind that we arrived at 9 PM, so lack of visibility complicated things. We called our property manager, and she was very helpful and prompt. The only issue we had with the cottage was a faulty garage door opener. Our property manger resolved it within the day without inconveniencing our trip. It was great having the washer/dryer. We were also spoiled with shampoo, conditioner and body soap. All little things that we could have brought, but super convenient not to have to pack. We also loved the comfortable beach chairs. There were only 4. It would have been nice to have 5, but not a big deal.

Our Favorite Big Island Vacation Rental!

I absolutely LOVED this home! It's beautifully decorated and furnished. I was taking pictures of everything because I wanted to copy some of the design ideas in my own home. The beds are comfy and the manager even had the sofa sleeper set up with bedding since we arrived late at night. The booking process was easy and there was a lot of communication prior to arrival. We were provided with arrival instructions and concierge info. The community has two separate pools and jacuzzi's. My kids had a blast swimming there. I walked the Kamilo community every morning. There's a Foodland close by for groceries, but next time I would definitely go to Kona first and buy groceries there since the resort store was so expensive. There was a smaller sandy beach close by but it seems that most of the beaches in this area are rocky. The sandy beach was great for snorkeling and had tons of fish! We will definitely be back!

One of our favorite places to stay in the Waikoloa area! Our 2nd time renting this vacation home!

This was actually our SECOND time staying in the Kekokua Cottage and we loved it once again! The first time it was just me and my wife. This time around we brought my wife's parents as well as our three children (ages 7, 12 and 14). We live on Oahu and have stayed in many different vacation homes over the years. The Kekokua Cottage is in a beautiful new gated community (called Ka Milo) and is setup really well for small groups, families or even smaller multi-generational family like ours. Our teenage son slept on the pullout sleeper sofa in the large living area and he loved it as the sofa has a quality memory foam mattress and was very comfortable for him. Our younger daughters shared the second bedroom (queen bed I think), my in-laws were in the third bedroom and me and my wife were in the master suite. Having the three full baths and washer/dryer setup was super helpful. The home is very comfortable and has a large open concept kitchen, living and dining area, which opens up to the outdoor lanai and grassy area, with lanai furniture and outdoor dining table as well. The kitchen is large with plenty of counter and cabinet space. We could comfortably stay in this home for extended periods of time, but it also works out really well for shorter stays of 4-8 nights, like ours was. Furnishings, fixtures and decor are all tastefully chosen and the quality of craftsmanship in the vacation home is well done. Garage space and beach amenities were nice to have and the nearby pools, jacuzzi spas and workout fitness center are convenient proximity to the vacation home. The management team was great to work with, as usual, the vacation home was in clean and tidy condition on arrival and the information and guest binder details was very helpful. This home is definitely worth considering and is a great value when you take into account all that is included with the home and the nearby amenities! Mahalo til next time!

Big Island Getaway

A group of 4 of stayed in this 3 bedroom/3 bathroom home in Kona. The home is modern and has plenty of room. The instructions and pre-coordination were helpful prior to arriving. Inside. we made good use of the kitchen and outdoor grill, often times eating dinner or breakfast outside. Overall a great experience. The only suggestions I would have would be to have more condiments, etc in the pantry. I've stayed in many rental homes, and I've seen a majority of them with more. Additionally, because the neighborhood is new and still being developed, I would recommend establishing pest control as we did find undesired bugs in the house
