Great vacation spot

Loved most everything about this house, close to the beach and stores and restaurants, on a nice culdesac. The house was very clean and had everything a large family would need for a wonderful vacation! The only drawback is that the decks need some work! I definitely recommend this lovely home!

Great house to stay at

Don't Hesitate!!!

I was a little nervous booking this location for our mini-family reunion due to the mixed reviews. DO NOT EVEN HESITATE!! The Boss' Playhouse is perfect in every way!! We were a family of 4 adult couples (ages 21-65), 3 college kids and one 12 year old (12 people total). There was plenty of space for everyone and despite spending an entire week together, we had enough space to never get on each other's nerves. The house was immaculate, plenty of linens and towels were provided (we paid for the linen service), the pool and hot tub were fabulous (and used every, single day of our weeklong stay!) We walked to the beach every day with no issues (including our 65 year old patriarch, so not sure why people were complaining about the distance to the beach?!) Conveniently located close to plenty of good restaurants to eat at and the grocery store. We will most definitely be returning!

Great Time but Property Outdated

Location and size of property is great. There are 3 floors…the house gets more outdated with each level. Very old furnishings (chairs, couches, beds) likely from the early 90’s. As a result, they feel dirty and worn. Extremely outdated pictures, lamps, decor…desperately needs refreshing. Old coffee makers, old dishes, old broken blinds…old. Wouldn’t take much to bring this house into the current decade. Overlook balcony needs maintenance! There is no garbage disposal. No modern appliances.

The ice maker in the kitchen does not make ice very quick and the faucet on the kitchen sink needs to be replaced. It came off in my hand! Just minor things but overall we had a great time. Our family has grown this last year so we are looking for a bigger house.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property is really dated, carpets are shabby and starting to fray in doors, some of the chairs were a little wobbly, stairs to hot tub were broken (appears nails fell out of steps, not broken wood). Crows nest was scary, wood really needs to be looked at. Pool area was great, pool was a nice size, layout of house was nice and met all of our needs. House just really needs some updating and maintenance. Fridge on lower level was nice, beach drinks and snacks were stored. Painting, replacing AC vent covers etc would go a long way. Beach access was much farther than we had expected.

Our Family Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We did not arrive till late on Saturday. Right off, there were multiple issues: ants in kitchen, kitchen faucet handle was broken off, many lightbulbs were burnt out including carport lights which were needed for keyless entry & 2nd floor master's sliding door lock was broken. On Sunday, I sent an email & left message with no response. Later I called again and spoke to someone who sent someone out same day. He fixed all issues & even left more deck chairs. They offered to have someone come out and spray for ants, but we did not want that chemical smell; so we bought some safe scentless indoor ant spray. The bedrooms were roomy & provided plenty of storage & all bathrooms were clean & worked properly. The lower level provided lots of entertainment with a pool table & comfy couches for movies. The pool and hot tub were great. A gas grill was provided but there was no propane in the tank; we bought some at Lowe's & were promptly refunded. Great location, close to beach access & plenty of room for our family to spread out and enjoy. Wish bath & kitchen towels were provided; so that was an additional $270 charge. Some of the appliances were dated and in dire need of replacement (dryer & dishwasher). Also, would have been nice/considerate if someone would check house between rentals to fix & be aware of issues (door lock not working, multiple burnt-out lights/lamps, no propane, broken faucet, etc). Overall, we had a wonderful time, had great weather, and enjoyed spending family time at the beach.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was very spacious and provided us with plenty of things to do and a great location to things in Kill Devil Hills. The only modification I would make is more chairs for the decks - the top deck had one chair, and the 2nd floor deck had two. For the number of people in our party (8), it would have been great to be able to spend more time together on the deck with more seating. Poolside, however, had plenty of chairs. Other than that, an excellent place to stay and would definitely return.

Bosses playhouse August 17

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house layout is great. Location is great. That being said. The maintance was terrible. Downstairs sink leaked. Made the downstairs smell. A smell that would make you gag. It took 2 1/2 days to get this fixed. Plumber never did show up to fix the sink. Pool went green after 2 days there. I cleaned the pool pump filer myself. You can tell it hasn't been taken care of for a while. Hot tub dirty from day one. Toilet seat too small for the toilet. So when you sit down , you sit on the rim(disgusting). Internet wifi took 4 days to figure out. Window by the pool table leaked when it rained. Dishwasher ran for 5 hours, come to find out it was plugged up. Shower drains plugged with hair(nasty, it's called draino). I was VERY dissatisfied for $4000. Maintenance is terrible. The people answering the phone were very nice, but nothing got fixed other than the carpet.
