Room was a little worn out but actually lended to the old European style they were going for, garden view from room was pretty good but very nice from the all-day restaurant during breakfast buffer (which also had a great selection of Japanese and Western food), would be good if they had a coin laundry available rather than or additional to the pay per item wet or dry clean
The property is near a lot of attractions and there are ton of sushi restaurants nearby. It’s a short walk to the train station. The room was clean and very comfortable

Great stay! The staff is really what made it very pleasant there! Thanks!
Beautiful property with a large Japanese Garden and excellent dining facilities. Close to Tenba monorail station and the Tenba Market and only a 12 minute walk from Kokura Station.
Very friendly staff and easy check in. The building is showing its age a bit, but the amenities and room were clean and well taken care of. Easy access to parking, as well as dining options on or off site. Well worth the stay.
Huge rooms with beautiful views and an onsite Japanese garden super close to the monorail station connecting to the JR Kokura train station and other destinations. The hotel was a bit dated but clean. The retro feel of the rooms may be a selling point to those who like that however.
The room is a litttle small, but it is OK. The breakfast is good, and the resturant is beside its own Japanses type Park. I am indeed enjoy the breakfast time. It is worth to stay in this Hotel.
I was at this hotel (different management) 40 years ago for extended stay. The gardens are as lovely as ever. Another comfortable stay at the hotel.

It was a pretty basic old hotel. Nothing too fancy or notable, but also nothing to complain about. For the price, it was a nice stay (slept two nights). Note: hotel is older, with that old carpet/wood smell. Wouldn’t say it’s a 4* hotel, but decent for a good rest.
Common areas were lovely but the room was a real minimum in size. Lovely Japanese gardens, but the old English aesthetic inside grated with my tastes as an architect. Why not make it all Japanese, in Japan?

We enjoyed the view from our Japanese style room and had a good rest on tatami mat.
If only they keep maintenance of the room more.
Good location, Great hospitality. But there is surely a problem of sound protection. Noise from the neighboring room sounds too big. Probably renovation of wall structure is needed. Or bed location should be rearranged. When I complained, the response from the staff was quite proper.

Sufficient
The room was expectedly tiny. Smallest hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. The room was clean but there were stains on the carpet and the bathroom marble- and chipped paint on the bathroom door. I’d say the parts that were hard to deal with was that I think the toilet was supposed to automatically flush but it didn’t and the manual flush was hard to reach under the sink/counter. Also the mini fridge was making weird noises so we had to unplug it in order to sleep. Good location. Good staff.
Check in was smooth and the staff was friendly, however when I got to my room the bathroom smelled strongly of pee. And I hadidea if that was the drain system or the toilet. I cleaned it myself, because I don’t speak Japanese heads up for foreign visitors.
We booked a Japanese style room. This is the very first time in my life nobody made tatami for us. Everything was pretty old.

Grand reception area but dated rooms that needed some fresh paint and minor maintenance. Nothing wrong, though, for a reasonable stay for a reasonable price in a city that is definitely not a must-see
The tatami room we had was interesting. The property common areas was very pretty..however our room was tired looking. The futons had hair on them even before we took them out from the cupboard. Front desk is unable to communicate in english but they try by using a translation app which is really nice.

The room was a lot smaller than expected and the walls were thin, so we could hear the neighbors. But overall, it was a good experience!
