  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Outer banks get away

Beautiful home in a great location. Dolphins in the morning with a cup of coffee and a beautiful sunrise and sunset. Beds so comfortable and kitchen fully loaded. Great trip.

4 days in Southern Shores

The house has important "wow appeal" for a group of 7 or 8 people. Neighborhood, location, proximity to beach, pool, and sightseeing / restaruant options were all tops. Only two areas for constructive comment - no idea why there is no soap, shampoo in bathrooms, or very basic necessities in kitchen such as salt, pepper, sugar, sweetener, coffee, etc. It is in the contract that these items are not provided, but for the price of the rental, and the modest $25 cost of these items, it seems unkind. Beach towels should be provided - they are easy to wash in the house at change over and it helps customers to not have to pack such bulky items. We did rent beach chairs and cabana for each of our days from a local vendor named Farmdog. They were great and reasonable.

Mixed feelings

House was beautiful when we walked in. Some areas need attention. Leaks in upstairs and downstairs ceiling, grill wouldn’t go above 200 degrees (meal ruined) screened in porch very very dirty. Outside of house needs updating.
