Staff was Wonderful
I arrived at Fort Castle after midnight due to travel troubles, and the staff was very helpful with getting me right to my room and tending to my well-being in general. The room has everything necessary which made it an easy transformation.

Freundliches Personal
Das Hotel war sicher einmal richtig nett. Leider ist es inzwischen etwas schmuddelig und heruntergekommen. (Duschvorhang/Stockflecken, streifige Glasplatte im Frühstücksraum, fleckige, wenn auch gewaschene Platzdeckchen, fehlende Handtuchstange in der Dusche etc.) AC und Fan, sowie alle Lampen und Warmwasser haben jedoch problemlos funktioniert.
Es war Frühstücksbuffet versprochen, es gab jedoch nur Omelette mit Toast oder Butter, Marmelade, 1 Stück Obst oder Dosa und 1 Curry. Auf die Frage nach dem Buffet wurde cool reagiert "we don`t have". Die Sauberkeit entspricht nicht wirklich unseren Ansprüchen an ein Mittelklassehotel.
Das Personal ist unschlagbar freundlich, sehr herzlich und bemüht immer alles möglich zu machen, was man möchte, der Besitzer ebenso. Weil die Matratze zu hart war und er keinen weicheren Ersatz hatte bekam ich extra von zu Hause herbeigeholte Auflagen, damit es bequemer war - auch sonst war die Behandlung immer herzlich und natürlich und nicht unterwürfig freundlich.
Das Hotel wurde in der Zeit, in der ich dort war hauptsächlich von Indern und Arabern genutzt - ich war die einzige Europäerin.
Wäre nicht der Punkt mit der Sauberkeit könnte man das Hotel wirklich empfehlen.

Better value for money elsewhere
The hotel was decent, and the staff were very nice. However, other guests had informed us that they received better value for the same price (swimming pool, nicer facilities, etc) with other hotels.

Great location but did not live up to expectations
This hotel is conveniently located for walking to Chinese nets and New Years events, which is why I chose it. However, I was disappointed. At check-in, I asked about the activities going on that night (New Year's Eve). I knew there was a huge celebration on the beach where they burn a 25 foot Santa statue at midnight - I had even seen last year's on YouTube! But the staff member insisted there was "nothing going on" but that he could book me a DJ party with dinner at another hotel. I asked specifically about the beach celebration with the burning of Santa and he told me "it's only a small neighborhood thing, it's not for you, but I can get you tickets for a hotel DJ party!" I ignored him because he was obviously lying just to make a small commission. And sure enough, we easily found the celebration of 15,000 people on the nearby beach and found that FAR more interesting than a hotel DJ party. The staff was nearly non-existent the whole stay, we couldn't even get breakfast one morning. The glasses in the room had been painstakingly put into plastic covers to make them look freshly sanitized, but they were absolutely filthy when we got them out! The complimentary toiletries looked like they had been around for 6 months. The furniture was new and nice and it's easy to see where the nice pictures came from but at the end of the day I wished that I had paid a bit more for a better place (not that this was inexpensive!!). I found it a poor value for the money.

Fort Castle Hotel
Located in the tourist area but Hotel location is on back alley and poorly lit at night so not very suitable for single female traveller. Booked 6 weeks ahead but hotel management stated we had cancelled reservation, we book a lot with hotels.com and this is the first time this happened. More attention to housekeeping would increase this properties rating.

Okay hotell utan varmvatten på öv.
Wifi endast i lobbyn som är minimal.
Bra frukost där man bara säger vad man önskar så verkade de fixa det.
Tyvärr ingen lunch middag utan då fick man gå ut vilket är okay då det finns massor i närheten. 100m till allt så.
Killen som körde kväll/natt var jättetrevlig men var helt ny.
Rummet var ganska okay men saknade värdeskåp.
Det som kraftigt drar ned betyget är att jag behövde tjata 4 gånger på att få varmvatten för att duscha. 3 min funkade det sen stängde pumpen ned som tyvärr managern inte verkade känna till men en ung kille visste om. Den lät dock fruktansvärt mycket så skall ni bo på hotellet så bo inte på öv. Nb borde ha vettigt tryck i kranen.
