I chose to stay in this hotel due to its proximity to the Kolkata airport. The hotel is not maintained well. The room has a musty odor. The furniture tops were dirty, and sticky. The bedsheet had oil stains and hair from earlier guest. The bathroom did not have hand towels or wash cloths. The bathroom was not properly cleaned. The property looks very dated due to poor maintenance. I am giving these details as I do not want other guests plan to have a restful sleep prior to a flight like I did. Wish I had read the earlier reviews and not stayed here.

Things I liked:
During breakfast the staff was coming to talk to you often. Food options were nice as well during breakfast.
Room service was satisfactory.
Location is close to the airport so that's convenient. However a shuttle to and from the airport would be rather helpful.
Things I didn't like:
The random security check under the taxi using a mirror and luggage scanner which was not manned while our luggage passed through it at 2 am made no sense. It just feels like a process to tick the box with no real purpose from the security staff.
Lobby doesn't suit Holiday Inn's image as there were people sleeping in the lobby (it rather looked like they had passed out after having a spirited night). During check in I was not given any information may be considering half of my family had already checked in earlier during the day. I figured out the WiFi password by myself later in the room.
Out of the 2 rooms booked one didn't have a refrigerator.
The property is among the dirtiest start rated hotels I have ever been in. The lobby, corridor the rooms all are barely "cleaned" to say that there is housekeeping staff and again like the security staff it just felt like they are doing their job to tick the box. I have a baby who has asthma and struggles around dust. But the rooms were dusty. The carpets were stained, the parts around the carpet had dust and gunk settled around it.
Forced to give feedback while the hotel staff was standing over my shoulder during check out.
