Our room was very basic and outdated compared to other properties we stayed at in Costa Rica. Had to call staff to spray for cockroaches and ants, turn hot tub up and jets back on, nothing special about food, view of volcano from pool was awesome but pool is freezing cold.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite and the room had one of the most spectacular view I’ve ever seen in Costa Rica. The room was clean and very spacious, with modern sinks, toilet, and showers. The bed was very comfortable, true to other reviews. Food at the resort is very good, though cocktails were a little disappointing for the price. Make sure you take the offered jungle hike and wear decent sneakers or hiking boots. It is absolutely gorgeous and we had fun for a couple of hours taking in every trail we could (don’t worry, there are shortcut trails too). We were frequently amazed that even on the trails that somewhere forty years ago, people put in all those pavers and tables and chairs in the woods! The front desk/reception has a whole book of tours you can sign up for including horseback riding and rafting, etc. We only stayed a couple of days so we just took in and enjoyed the property, hiked a lot, used the pool table, and stared at the magnificent scenery. For people who want to get away from it all for a few days, this is a great place to do so.

Horrible experience, no power, no safety and no staff.no phone in the rooms. Trapped in the room with no power, no phone to call anyone. Also Rooms and bathroom don’t even look anything like the picture posted on Expedia. Never ever recommend this place to anyone. Not even my worst enemy.

Great place. Highly recommend one of the cabin on the hill. The view of the volcano is breathtaking and being able to see it from your room’s window is priceless. Also, the place is kept very clean and the restaurant serves very good food at affordable prices. Overall it was a very good experience

This was a spur of the moment decision and we are so glad we had this memorable experience. We abandoned our first (prepaid) stay at another location to get closer to the action in La Fortuna. Mentioning this to the front desk, they said “we are not fancy”. To us, this was so special. At the gate at the bottom of the mountain, an attendant lets you in (with confirmation of reservation). The road is high and steep and takes about 6 minutes to climb. A four wheel drive vehicle is recommended. As a result of this location, we felt VERY safe here. We didn’t even use the actual safe. Our room was older, but absolutely tidy. The AC worked great and the shower was hot (not so at other locations we stayed). The hot tubs were lovely; could have been hotter, but the grounds were so pretty. Provided breakfast was perfect. Dinner was fine, but not a highlight. Given the steep hill, you are kind of stuck after dark. Thankfully a pool table and nice fellow guests kept us entertained. This was an uber memorable experience for us and a special place for our family. Our teenage son will look back at this spot fondly.

Chalet was very dated. Small tv and hard bed. Sofa and recliner were very dirty with years of use. Staff were all outstanding. Restaurant was nice clean and staff efficient,food was good.Prices were also quite reasonable
