"It was a nice quiet resort with not a lot of people around which was nice for our honeymoon. I didn’t realize how far north the resort is and far from a lot of the activities we wanted to do. The unit was perfect for us but it definitely was outdated. The main bathroom shower head was terrible. It was really close to a private beach but not really safe for swimming due to the waves."

"Truly the most perfect house on the most perfect spot of the north shore if Kauai--incredible views, beautiful swimmable beach. The house and everything in it is top quality, lovely and an incredible space to relax and enjoy Haena with family and friends. Leila is an amazing host who is incredibly responsive and helpful with anything you need. We've stayed at several homes on the beach in Haena and KAULANA NAUE is by far the best."

"Great property and location. It’s in a remote area north side of the island. Often we had the entire beach area to ourselves which was delightful. At night listening to the sound of waves is so relaxing. I would note two things not stated in the listing. The house sits on stilts as most do in the area with a staircase to climb going in and out. Wasn’t an issue but I was glad my elderly mother chose not to join us on the trip as it would have been difficult for her.The house does not have AC. At first I was a little concerned but the design is so clever with plenty of windows we could open with a cool cross wind blowing through constantly. Turned my concern into an absolutely delightful experience not needing AC and enjoying nature at its best!"

"This house is amazing!! Has everything you could need and more! Really appreciated little things like beach chairs, boogie boards, laundry detergent being stocked… only thing that was a little tricky is the master bedroom is separated by a breezeway, an outside breezeway… so if you have small children it is tricky to have both adults sleep in that room. Otherwise house is special, walking distance to the beach, a cute little coffee shop, quick drive to tunnels beach and more!"

"We had an amazing trip. The house was PERFECT. It has everything you need and more. There was attention to detail and the conveniece items are too numerous to list. The host dropped off a new umbrella and beach chair while we were out. We immediately noticed how clean the house was and very welcoming. The walk to Tunnels is very short and using the wagon made it so easy to take the beach gear. Communication with the host was friendly, timely, and professional. We will be back to this home for our next Kauai visit."

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at Hale Pua Kai now four times in the past 7 years. It is the sweetest north shore hideaway you can imagine. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking/eating tools. The house is cool inside even when it's hot outside. It has an "old Hawai'i" vibe that is just so pleasant. You have easy access to Kepuhi (10 minute walk) and Tunnels (15 minutes walk), both excellent snorkeling beaches. The one thing that was disappointing is the bed, which is a bit soft and sagging. My husband was ok with it but I was less comfortable. However, it is not a deterrent! Hale Pua Kai is our home away from home, and we will be going there every year for as long as we can! Thank you, KVR, for being such excellent hosts."
