The atmospheric village of Hjarbæk is located in the beautiful surroundings of the fjord of the same name in the southwest of Himmerland. The surrounding countryside has a natural charm, with a small dirt road leading from the house to a 35-hectare conservation forest, perfect for hiking. Don't forget your picnic basket to enjoy a snack in the greenery. In the cozy harbor of Hjarbæk, special dinghies - Sjægten - lie gurgling on the quay. In week 33, the world championships in Sjægten sailing are held here every year. Next to the harbor is the child-friendly bathing beach with fine-grained white sand. Away from the paradisiacal conditions for water sports, your children can spend many hours here building sandcastles and collecting shells and stones on the beach. Experience picturesque sunsets that turn the sky and the sea gold. The surrounding area of Hjarbæk Fjord is a wildlife reserve with otters, herons, kingfishers, bats and seals.



Take a trip to the open-air museum Hjerl Hede, which is converted into a living museum with workshops and kitchens during the summer months. After a 20 min drive you are at Hjarbæk Fjord Golf Center, which has an interesting, varied 27-hole course laid out in rounds of 3 x 9 holes. Also visit the old provincial town of Viborg, with the cathedral as a special landmark, or Skive where you can sail in old wooden boats or visit castles, manor houses and museums. Last but not least, the Mønsted lime pits and Daugbjerg are also very interesting destinations.
