The Space:
You’ll notice it the instant you walk in – the attention to detail and efforts made to meet the modern travelers' needs. Taking note from the era in which the building was constructed, each room is inspired by rich & playful colors, Art Deco motifs, art and opulent fixtures. Starting with the kitchenette; complete with quartz countertops and brass finishes to the memory foam mattress and spacious bathroom gives each studio an inviting stay. Relax in the velvet armchairs while you sip your morning coffee or evening libation. Each Deluxe Studio offers a coffee station, microwave, mini-fridge, organic toiletries and bath towels, memory foam mattress, closet space, SmartTV, high speed WIFI, eco friendly sateen linens and full length mirror.
Guest Access:
Feel more at home with our invisible service. The Bellwether is equipped with modern and secure access, allowing our guests to skip the front desk and head directly to their rooms after a long day of traveling.
Guests are given a secure and individual code upon booking. One for entry to The Bellwether, and one for your room so you can come and go at your leisure without fear of forgetting your room key.
In addition to your suite you will have access to our lounge located on the second floor. Please note there is not an elevator in the hotel.
The Neighborhood:
The Bellwether stands just steps away from some of Louisville’s most eclectic and iconic attractions. Dubbed “Restaurant Row” and voted “Louisville’s Greatest Street”, Bardstown Road offers plenty to explore during your stay, no car necessary. The Highlands is extremely walkable and bike friendly with over 30 restaurants, coffeeshops, bookstores, breweries, and endless locally-owned places to find new treasures.
As an anchor of the Park District, you will be situated between the rolling hills of two famous Louisville parks. Fredrick Olmsted, you might know his work from New York’s Central Park, designed the 400+ acre Cherokee Park which is home to boundless bike and walking/running trails, vast green spaces to explore, as well as creeks and waterways. Mr. Olmsted's firm also designed Tyler Park which is equipped with a newly designed playground and splash pad along with public tennis courts.
The Bellwether borders downtown Louisville where you can see shows and sporting events at our various stadiums and theaters, walk along the river front or the pedestrian bridge to Indiana, or travel down Bourbon Row and take a short turn to 4th Street Live!

The Bellwether is located on Bardstown Road, this a bustling and busy street. If you are looking to immerse yourself in one of Louisville’s most popular neighborhoods and live like a local then The Bellwether is for you. If you are looking for a quiet and serene getaway from the city, we may not be what you are looking for. Having walkable access to restaurants, shops, and even a movie theatre comes with a bit of noise.
Pet Rules for The Bellwether Hotel:

The Bellwether Hotel allows dogs only. Dogs are only allowed in 1st floor rooms. We allow up to two dogs to stay as long as their combined weight is not over 50 pounds, or one dog not over 50 pounds. A $50 pet fee will be required at time of booking. Please notify us at time of booking if a dog will be staying.
Pet Supplies provided are subject to availability.
*Only rooms on the first floor are dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed in the lounge area of the second floor, service dogs exempt from this rule.
*Dog not allowed on furniture in the room. Dogs must not be left unattended in room, or anywhere else on hotel property unless crated. Owners are financially responsible for any damage deemed by staff to have been caused by a pet.
*Dogs must be picked up after inside and outside of hotel by guests. Guests will be charged an additional cleaning fee for any extra cleaning incurred by guest not picking up after pet.
*Ample green space located in neighborhood for walking and pet relief.
*We recommend confirming all pet policies with us prior to booking.

Cancellation Policy and Property Information

We offer a full refund for any cancellations made 5 days or more before check-in, after that we offer a refund of 50% up until 12pm on day of check-in for reservations booked through The Bellwether Hotel website. Reservations booked through any other booking website, such as, but not limited too, Airbnb, Booking, VRBO, are subject to the refund policy the reservation was made under.
Exceptions to refund policy are any reservations made for Derby Week. Derby Week is defined as the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday preceding Derby Day on the first Saturday in May; Saturday (Derby Day), and the Sunday after Derby Day. No refunds can be given for cancellations of reservations made for any of these days.
The Bellwether is an invisible service and self check-in hotel and as such there is not a front desk and the hotel does not have staff on-site 24 hours a day. The Bellwether Hotel is a self check-in and invisible service hotel. As such we do not provide daily housekeeping during a guest stay. Additional housekeeping can be provided if requested 24 hours in advance and for an additional housekeeping fee.
Staff are reachable 24 hours a day by phone and email.
The hotel does not contain an elevator. Please note that when booking a room on the second floor there are two flights of stairs. The hotel lounge is also located on the second floor.
