Shouted at by staff

We requested a late checkout and a room no one else was checking in to early as we arrived at 1am. Sadly this was all ignored and my partner and kids were kicked out and shouted at by staff.

Another great stay in Vilar and the location is second to none. Staff are extremely friendly and very welcoming and the accommodation is of a very high clean standard.

The upgrades are fantastic.

This location has upgraded their rooms to inclusive new flooring - best of all, split level accommodations have a new restroom on the ground level - before, you only had the option of upstairs.

Avoid booking at all costs

The worst experience in more than 20years of visiting this area in Portugal. Villa was very run down and mouldy and basically uninhabitable.

Resort was ok but not on a par with others in the area - staff very friendly and helpful but whole set up was unecessarily complicated - e'g charging a daily rate for pool towels which I would have expected to be included and very long walks to get to one end of the complex to another. There were also loads of ants and bugs inside the property which I haven't experienced in other resorts in the area. They could do more with the pool seating arrangements in peak season - and better landscaping would improve the overall feel of the resort.

We come to this area of Portugal about twice a year, have stayed in all the hotels and lots of rental apartments. We went for a Premium 1 bed apartment. It had everything we needed, British tv, heating, a cafe for breakfast and a well stocked supermarket. I did request an earlier check in, but this wasn’t to be. Check in is at 4. Only slight issue was when we left reception to go to the supermarket my husband walked straight into a plate glass window. It looked just like a door…a sticker of some sort would be advisable. We’ll be back.

Stayed for a four day break at the end of Feb. Had a two bed villa and the awful smell coming from the en suite bathroom was horrible. Notified staff who said it would be looked into but it only got worse! No gym or sauna open even though it’s listed as such which was disappointing. Very few of the air conditioning units worked - couldn’t turn on the heating when needed! Did get late checkout though, at a cost of €22 which suited our late flight but at €11 an hour it’s pricey! Would consider returning in the high season.

Staff were lovely, particularly around the pool & pool bar area. Reception & Shop all very good. Setting was great and the resort had a really good feel about it... BUT... The villa (No.26) was shocking. It was dull, dark, had no useable outside area and was simply somewhere you do not want to spend time...; Very old fashioned, terrible lighting, really dull and just in need of a revamp... I spend a fair bit of time in this region of Portugal (Almancil, Quinta do Lago & Vale do Lobo) & have been fortunate enough to stay at Four Seasons Country Club, Four Seasons Fairways, the Conrad, all of which are within walking distance of Vilar do Golf.., and all are infinitely better. Okay, I hear you say, maybe they cost more, well not necessarily We booked a premium room for 3 nights and the per night rate was equally matched by 2 of the previously mentioned resorts. Further try the Wyndham, across the road next to Fairways. Offers alot more for your hard earned money.... We were booked in to Four Seasons Country Club for a week, but decided to travel over three (3) days earlier.... I had heard good reports about the newly refurbished villas at Vilar do Golf so decided to test them out, specifically asking for one these new ones... However, despite the resort appearing, at least to be quiet we ended up in Villa 26, an old fashioned, drab and quite frankly depressing place to stay... I know that there are better villas, but this review is on my stay... Will I stay here again...No
