  • This was taken at the Kea Point lookout at Mt Cook National Park. It was an easy trek and the view was phenomenal. We got there just as the sun was about to go behind the mountains so I was glad that I could capture what was left of the light on those snow-capped peaks. The giant mountain there is Mt Wakefield and just to the left of it is Mt Cook, nearly fully covered by those stubborn clouds. The Muller Glacier down the bottom definitely gave the image a good colour contrast as well.

  • If you can afford it, I recommend splurging on a helicopter flight or fixed wing plane ride to Milford from Queenstown or Wanaka. The views of Fiordland from above are unbeatable.

We chose this location as we knew it would be a bit quirky, and it definitely delivered on this. The check in time was chaotic, with only one person and a short time period to arrive, lots of campers without reservations were queueing up to be booked in. Our motel unit had all the amenities we needed, with a full kitchen. The shower was hot, with good water pressure, all good as long as you aren't too tall. The decor was a slice of the Swiss Alps :-) We could park right outside our unit and it had an awesome view of the lake and mountains from the living area. There was no road noise at night, and the location was very convenient for an early morning trip to Doubtful Sound. While the surfaces e.g. kitchen and bathroom in the unit were clean, there was a lot of dust and grime behind furniture, on skirting boards etc. - suggest that these are in need of a deep clean. Washing machines (x2) and dryers (x2) were at the main utilities area; because it was around teatime and people were using microwaves etc. in the same block, the power cut out and we needed to find a staff member to reset the breaker/fuse. You need $2 coins for these - available from reception during check in time.

The cabin was very dated and old. For the price, it was definitely a disappointment. The sofa beds were unstable and uncomfortable. There was also no TV which was a complete surprise and a first for us. The only pleasant thing was that it was cleaned well.

We stayed in the basic cabins and they were so cute! Very clean and cozy, there was a heater in the room so it was super nice! The bathrooms never felt too busy and were clean!

Welcoming staff. Beautiful location. Cabin was nice. Heater worked great. The shared kitchen was fully equipped. At busy hours there was not/barely enough silverware for every body. Bathrooms were clean. The one private unisex toilet didn’t have toilet paper for a while, but there were additional stalls in the ladies and men’s bathrooms. So, not a big deal. Lights along the walkways would be great for the nights.

I loved this place. Bags of character and quirky. My wife didn’t like it…dated and in need of refurbishment. Previous occupants recycling still in kitchen on arrival and placed not brilliantly cleaned. Lack of guttering made one of our three bedrooms noisy when it rained as bed was in an alcove. Great location. Quite expensive for what it was…

The owner was kind and helpful. Late arrival was easily arranged. Beautiful view across the lake to the snow-capped mountains. Bed is comfortable and the acommodation is cosy and equipped as needed, though without a TV. Location is ideal for trips to Doubtful Sound. This is a budget stay, so don’t expect anything fancy, but it does well what it says on the tin.

마나포우리 호수를 보며 식사를 할 수 있고 겨울에 방문했음에도 숙소가 아주 따뜻했습니다. 주방시설도 있어서 맛있는 스테이크도 구워먹었고 밖에 있는 바베큐 시설은 시간이 안되어서 못 이용한게 아쉬웠어요. 그리고 저녁에 본 별하늘은 평생 잊지 못할것같습니다.
