The Holy Name Church is at the heart of the Manchester University.
Looking up at the tower of the Palace Hotel. Originally the Refuge Assurance building - symbol of Manchester's economic might in the Victorian period. Check out the razor sharp geometry of that brickwork!
Shadows of neo-gothic towers, spires and roofs from the main University of Manchester building showing up really well on the modern rotundity of University Place, opposite.

Great hotel. Lovely bar to relax in. Bit pricey for food but can be expected these days. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Can easily walk to the terminal but if carrying lots of bags or with small kids just get the shuttle bus for a couple of quid.
