The hotel is old fashion with a ton of character. The location was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Free parking was a plus.

The Pine Inn is a beautiful old hotel in the heart of Carmel. I hope they never change the lobby with the luxurious red velvet furniture, antique furnishings, and inviting fireplace. We had a room on the second floor with an ocean view. The bed was very comfy but with the thickness of the mattress it was a climb to get into bed. The antique furniture was an elegant accent for the room, but some of the pieces need some restorative care to really make them stand out. Also it would be nice to add a small fridge and coffee maker to the room. One other point that has nothing to do with the hotel is that downtown Carmel can be very noisy in the morning. Garbage trucks collected the garbage all three days of our stay, Wednesday through Friday. Delivery trucks idled outside our window for a good half hour every morning. This was all between 7 and 8 am, so for those who are early risers it’s no problem. But for those of who stay up late and enjoy a good morning lie-in, the noise was pretty annoying. All in all, I would recommend Pine Inn for your Carmel stay. Right in the heart of all the good things about Carmel.

Fabulous location in the heart of the city and walking distance to everything from the ocean to restaurants to shops to theater. Il Fornaio is right there and the self parking area in the hotel is comvinient. Will most certainly stay there again, since everyone is so nice!

I booked a two-night stay at Pine Inn during my daughter’s spring break. We’re local. Our room was ready earlier than the official check-in time, and it was clean and matched what was shown on the website and in traveler photos. Parking is located across the street and is first-come, first-served, with one EV charging spot available. Unfortunately, the stay was far from restful. After returning from dinner, we experienced constant loud door slamming (the doors seem to auto-shut), along with banging and noise from surrounding rooms that continued until midnight. The most frustrating part was the next morning. We were woken up around 7:00 AM by loud work noises right outside our room. This was extremely disruptive and not something we expected. When I called the front desk, they seemed unaware and told me work was supposed to begin at 9:00 AM on the roof. However, when we left the room, we saw workers removing carpet from the stairs—not working on the roof as stated. I reported the issue again at checkout and was told other guests had complained as well. The response felt dismissive, as if there was nothing they could do. To the hotel: please inform guests in advance about any planned maintenance or early-morning work so they can plan accordingly. Guests should not have to adjust their stay around unexpected construction noise—especially when they come to Carmel for a quiet, relaxing experience.

Wife and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. We had an experience where someone entered our room and went through our bags and swapped a nice corkscrew that we brought from home with a crappy plastic one. The staff claim they checked the cameras and nobody but us entered the room. Very suspicious this item we have never seen or own happen to show up in my bag and our wood handled corkscrew is gone? Then when I went to go check if anyone had been in our room, me and another guest were waiting at the front desk for quite some time. We knocked on the door, yelled to the back and nothing.. finally the guy showed up and was waiting tables at the restaurant. He opened the side door and there was someone in the back sitting on her phone! Totally ignoring us in the front the whole time! Not real happy about getting either lied to or gaslit when I am 100% sure what transpired.

Parking was located across the street, but was decent. If you're on this, second or third floor there is no elevators. The building is really very cool. Great restaurant attached to it. Walking distance to everything in downtown.

6/10 Location amazing. However the rooms need updating, mold in the bathroom specifically the shower head (easy fix) and the ceiling. The finishing in the tub was also peeling which was gross. There are not many hotel in Carmel with AC so beware! This one did not have AC but we got the room with the ocean view and it was amazing! You can ditch your car and just roam the streets excellent location. Staff was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance of the hotel was also very nice and regal. The bathroom was just such a turn off.
