The food was amazing. The speed of the wi-fi was quite good. The safe in the room was very helpful . There are some very minor things like torn upholstery in the dinning area, but other than that it is very nice.

Location ideal , so sad to see this hotel so run down and not maintained. Our room was dirty , towels dirty , bedding ripped and dirty , having complained they moved us to a different room but it was just as bad and just to add to it there was no hot water at all and when we asked them to fix it we got no response . We left the next day

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience at Mount Lavinia Hotel. I had paid for four nights, but the staff REFUSED to honor my booking, claiming that they had no record of the booking and blaming Expedia for the error. Once I showed them the booking reference, they then admitted that a block of their rooms were closed and that they couldn't honor many of their bookings. I was not able to stay there and had to book rooms at another hotel at short notice. PLEASE do not book this hotel. It's a shame-- this hotel has a lot of historical significance, and I wish it were better run, but this experience left me with a bitter taste in my mount. AVOID.

Location excellent don’t let that mislead you to stay in this Hotel it’s a dirty run-down hotel with worse food and staff. property is beyond dirty. This use to be a very nice hotel and known for Sri Lankan food and even that they are the worse now. We stayed in 7 Hotels in Sri Lanka on this trip this is the only bad place we experience avoid this hotel by all means.
