“Unfortunately there had been a storm and the hotel was without a restaurant or bar, and in recovery mode. However, the receptionist was very helpful. The hotel itself is a stunner.”

“Amazing 3 night stay here with the family. Beautiful property. Exceptional service and great food. Highly recommend!”

“Our stay at Casa do Rio was exceptional. There are 10 rooms with stunning views of the Douro River and vineyards. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, and we were welcomed with a plate of fresh figs and white port and all ingredients to make portonics. The grounds are lovely with an infinity pool overlooking the river and two semi private fresh water dunking pools. The food and was outstanding! We made our dinner selections earlier in the day and were treated to an exquisite……

“Aconselho vivamente. Um local espectacular e muito tranquilo. Central”

“Tudo perfeito dos melhores sítios que já visitei 🙌”

“La propriétaire Susanna est super gentille, chambre très propre et déjeuner impeccable.”

“This is hands down one of the prettiest and coolest properties you can stay in, in rural Portugal. The property, room and pool and service was amazing, but the town itself situated in is also just one of the coolest experiences. So many handmade items included in your stay and available to purchase. The host is amazing, super friendly and laid back. The grounds were beautiful, unique and has so much character. We stayed here for a night after taking the train into Pochino and it was one of the……

“La habitación limpísima, el desayuno estupendo y la atención de la dueña fenomenal.”

“Breakfast is so good! Room is comfy. Stunning view.”

“The room was very spacious and clean, bed was very comfortable. Balcony had a beautiful view”

“Tout est parfait dàs cet hotel, personnel très sympa ”

“The property is extraordinary. The rooms are large, comfortable, and very tastefully decorated. The view of the Duoro Valley from our room and from the entire property really are magical. It would be hard to imagine a more beautiful setting. The common kitchen, with Honor Bar, is a great convenience. The dining room is tastefully austere ( some quiet background music would warm things up). Throughout the property are many comfortable private areas to relax both inside and out. The beautiful……

“The lodging was well maintained and fit our needs perfectly, including an elevator to the first floor for my husband with bad knees. Staff was attentive to any requests. Rooms were spacious and equipped with all our needs. Breakfast was substantial and beautifully presented. A perfect central locations to do day trips to 4 other northern Aldeias Historicas.”

“Andre and Susanna have created a stay that is unique and special. The house is a gorgeous restoration—easily one of the most beautiful spaces we've stayed in. The hospitality was warm, generous, and sincere. We were treated to a taste of Moncorvo’s traditional regional culture. Perfect location for exploring the Coa Valley rock art and the Douro wine region. 10/10!"Andre and Susanna have created a stay that is unique and special.
