The rooms were clean, the house had a big spacious living room with a great view, quiet neighborhood, easy access to the beach and didn’t feel crowded as neighboring houses were not built immediately next to this property.

Beautiful views out of practically every room and plenty spacious. We enjoyed the large kitchen that opened to the living area - made it so easy to cook and enjoy our time. The balconies overlooking the ocean were perfect and the outdoor furniture was great. The only thing I’d say is one of the skylights was gone so it was covered with a tarp (and we had a hard rain) and one of the bathrooms the ceiling was cut out so you could see into the ceiling with the piping. We opted to not use that room. We would stay here again.

Great getaway

The layout of the house is perfect for large groups. We put together puzzles and cooked as a group. Such a relaxing wonderful space. Dawn was very responsive and helpful.

Fantastic property for 6 couples on Adult Retreat in Nag's Head

Beautiful, well-maintained 6 bdrm/ 6 ba house right on the beach. Large, wide decks on 2nd & 3rd levels overlooking the ocean. Dawn (owner) was a pleasure to work with (Thanks Dawn!). The hot tub was OOC during our stay, but it didn't affect our plans.

Great place just a few tips.

Beautiful house fit my family of 9 perfect. Very clean all rooms had view of ocean, beds very comfy kitchen had everything we needed. However on day two AC went out and hostess was very quick to respond but we got two window AC but really didn't help at all considering the size of house stayed 75 to 80 in the living and kitchen area I reported it on day one and AC guy was supposed to fix it stayed 6 days and still had not been fixed, the gas grill was very dirty with food, and might want to check the deck banisters. We had a great time but for the price that I paid I just wanted to mention this especially the AC.

Magical Beachfront

This was an awesome experience. Waking up and going to sleep to the sounds of the ocean was soothing and breathtaking. The location to access to the beach was also a beautiful experience. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and the middle floor bedrooms had private access to the balcony overlooking the beach. The manager of the property was wonderful and made sure our stay was awesome. I would recommend this property a thousand times over. Our party of 12 adults were comfortable and we felt at home.

Family vacation

The location of the Pompous Pelican was fabulous, the family was on the deck watching the ocean and the dolphins several times a day. There was plenty of room for the 12 of us. There were several minor issues, a broken shower head, a broken tile in the kitchen but nothing that interfered with our vacation. We lost internet and TV for almost 24 hours but not the fault of the owner.

Six Days at the Pompous Pelican

Great location in Nags Head, not far from the Outlets. The Pompous Pelican is a wonderful house. Everything was clean and ready for us. Plenty of space for me, the misses and our pup. Spectacular, unblocked view of the ocean from the top floor… even better from the deck! Note: the photos show a walkway directly to the beach. This is now filled in by a 6’ high sand dune. We were able to climb over it to get to the beach but used the public beach access to return home. Overall, 5 stars.

We love this house!

This was the third time my family has stayed at the Pompus Pelican. We adore this house! The views are amazing and we love having a bathroom in each bedroom. The kitchen is huge and accommodates large meals. Having an extra refrigerator on the ground floor is very convenient. This trip was the first time we saw roaches in the house. I contacted the property manager and she sent an exterminator the very next day . Renata was very helpful and prompt. Looking forward to booking our next trip!!

Wonderful Views! Kind Owners! Loved staying here!

This house is as wonderful! We have a great time staying here! While my husband was unable to join us, the house provided an amazing stay for our children & their fiancé’s. Unfortunately, during our stay, we had to say Goodbye to our 10 year old English Bulldog. He enjoyed his last few days on the beach. Roanoke Island Animal Clinic provided such loving care & comfort during the last few moments of his precious life. We strongly recommend them for any animal care needed during you Outer Banks Experience. I am thankful to Dawn for allowing us to stay in her beautiful home, & answering any questions I had. We hope to enjoy another family vacation at The Pompous Pelican. ❤️

A wonderful tme

The Pompous Pelican was everything we hoped it would be. The view was fantastic from inside (even when it rained!), and out. We had 9 family members in at different intervals, and we were never crowded or on top of each other. The kitchen was spacious and comfortable. Despite a barrage of groceries, snacks, and beverages that we dragged in with us, there was still plenty of room to function--both for big family meals, and "everyone fend for yourselves" meals. Between all of use, we took advantage of all of the amenities--the grill and picnic tables, the hot tub, the washer and dryer. Everything was in great order. It was a dream trip for the entire family.

Awesome Family Vacation!

This large 6 bedroom/6 bathroom is wonderfully located on the corner of a loop in South Nags Head. We all loved being able to walk right out onto the beach, and the views were amazing from the decks where there is plenty of seating. It is located south of Jeanette’s Pier, so not as busy as further north with traffic and beach goers. The kitchen/dining area/eating area was very large, and could easily accommodate our entire party. We loved that every room has a view of the ocean due to the way the house was built, and we could even hear the sounds of the ocean with the windows closed! The house has everything you need - multiple coffeepots, pans, pots, toasters, griddle, blenders, , dishes etc. If you like a kuerig - bring that with you. Also, be sure to bring your own beach chairs to sit on the beach, and propane if you want to grill. The bedroom doors are louvered and there are no room darkening shades, so if you are sensitive to light / sound, I’d bring earplugs and a sleeping mask.

Gorgeous views/Gross carpet

Absolutely stunning views that cannot be beat. Spacious for a large group. Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom. Photos are accurate. However, the carpet is absolutely filthy and disgusting. I wore shoes whenever I was not in bed. The cleaning fee on this house is quite expensive.

Winter Beach Trip with Family

We had a great time during our long weekend at the beach. This house is well equipped for large groups and hosted our small group of 6 easily. You can’t get closer to the ocean than this house and it made it very easy for my father to see the water while dealing with mobility issues. The hot tub is HUGE and has a great view of the ocean as well. We enjoyed many hours spent on the top level deck and all of the beach games that were included in the house. Very nice getaway and would rent this house again.

Perfect location perfect home

Absolutely Perfect!!!!

We couldn't have found a better house to spend our long Girl's Weekend. Every single one of the six bedrooms has a wonderful ocean view as well as an en suite bathroom!! The kitchen is beyond big enough to accommodate large meals. The house is perfectly centrally located with many restaurants to choose from as well as a great outlet mall only one mile away! We will be visiting the Pompous Pelican again.... count on it!
