Japanese hospitality to its very best. Great location just steps away from the Great Budda. Very friendly and helpful staff just when you need them most, especially when you are in tight schedule on train. "Luxurious" outdoor onsen with a wonderful view of the pagoda. A perfect place to stay in Nara!

We have been to many onsen ryokan and the quality has been declining in general in terms of food and amenities but Hotel New Wakasa made us want to book our trip to it again next year!
It is considered as one of our best onsen ryokan experience in the past ten years for overall quality.
I didn’t know their staff names but all of them are welcoming with a good smile and helpful. Our teenage birthday boy got a surprise dessert platter at dinner which was very thoughtful and we appreciated it...
