Stayed in a royal suite. Although the decor could use a little upgrade, it was clean and comfortable, and the garden tub jacuzzi with separate shower was wonderful. The only issue I had with the room is that the view outside the window was awful—a rooftop with pipes and vents. (No wonder the drapes were closed when we first arrived)! I feel there should have been some indication that there would be such a bad view when I was booking the room. It wasn’t the least expensive room out there. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. It was in an excellent location, and the staff were all very nice. Delicious breakfast at the restaurant downstairs, Criollo. Really enjoyed the live music. We also really liked the Carousel Bar—delicious apps and drinks!

Some very good features included ample power and USB outlets, robes and slippers with turn-down service, and a very nice and professional housekeeping staff. On the negative side, the TV, while large, had no provision for plugging in an HDMI cable for personal premium streaming content, so it was largely unused. Also, we tried the Criollo restaurant on the premises for breakfast and were treated fairly rudely, since even with the restaurant largely empty, we were seated directly next to the setup station, which had a lot of activity, preventing us from carrying on a normal discussion due to occasional dishes falling and general clatter. Sadly, our displeasure was reflected in our gratuity, which was unfair to the server, but my spouse prevented me from voicing our displeasure aloud, and I had no other recourse. We had no other meals there, preferring to take our business elsewhere. We did visit the carousel bar, but never had any luck getting a seat. The extension bar, while large, had only five chairs at the bar, so one of us had to stand.

This is the only place anyone needs to stay while in NOLA. The Ritz may be nicer by some estimation but it's too modern and more expensive. The Monteleone is warm and traditional. Frank Sinatra loved it. And if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.

My husband and I stayed in the Monteleone for the second time and it is by far the best hotel we have stayed in including all the other big hotels in the French Quarter. We honeymooned in New Orleans in 1974 and have made many many trips over the years. We are an older couple and wanted to go one more time at least. So glad we stayed in this hotel. From the minute we pulled up in our car and were greeted by Blue to the time Zachary picked up our bags and took us to our car, the service was excellent! The housekeeping staff is unbelievably good. Most days our room was serviced twice with fresh everything. Our robes an slippers were laid out in the evening, bed turned back, chocolate was left, ice in the ice bucket and one day they even left a cloth to wipe your computer screen or glasses. The valet service was a little overwhelmed on Sunday when we checked out and we had a wait, but it certainly did not detract from our amazing stay.
