The staff were efficient, welcoming and happy to help. We wanted a cheap & functional room and that’s what we got with a bonus of a fan. The parking was fantastic value - £5 for 24hrs and an easy walk to The Stadium of Light mainly along a pedestrian route. Definitely great value and superb staff.

Magnum hotel

Enjoyed my stay there and booked in for the next 3 weeks. All the staff are very friendly and helpful while still being professional. It as got to be one of the comfiest beds I have slept in in a hotel, highly recommend this hotel to everyone

TVs in 2 rooms not working. Room cleaning not available “due to staff illness”. Lots of litter in car park. Derelict restaurant boarded up next door. Charges for car park. Main door locked at 4pm and I had to be let in - doesn’t suggest area is safe? 2 mile walk into town in very dull along a dual carriageway and nearest metro station 20 mins away. But clean and staff were pleasant.

A good budget hotel to stay. Staff are friendly and helpfull. The only thing is that the breakfast is just reheated and not cooked fresh there. Omelete was served cold as it was not cooked properly from frozen but in general not a bad place to stay. Short distance to Newcastle as well.

I was a bit dubious at 1st, we had the breakfast but it seems the do each individual person at a time on the 1st day, but the 2nd day the had some warmers, its was nice. Rooms were tidy and clean. Looks like an old premier inn taken over by best west. I over heard some say they only had it couple of months. Will stay again.

Very dated, you definitely get what you pay for here. Rooms clean and comfortable enough, staff good at check in, very rude at breakfast, we didn’t bother staying for breakfast in the end we walked to the retail park and ate there. Sign on reception said 20 minute walk to Stadium of Light but it’s definitely 30-40 minutes. Would I return, no not really.

In the information it said that it had a restaurant next door, it didnt, I felt I was going to a very run down area and even the taxi driver bringing me was surprised. That said it was a comfy night and the staff were very helpful

As I pulled into the car park it dawned on me that I had stayed there before but it had been a Premier Inn back then. I am not sure why it was no longer part of that chain but it hadn't really changed. It was the same as it used to be. It was clean and tidy and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. One word of warning: On their website they say they are in walking distance of the city centre amenities such as the Emporium Theatre (which is why we were there). We used Google maps to plan our walk and when it suggested it would take 50 mins we decided that was a little too much of a stroll to the theatre and back. Other than that this is a very good, value for money, hotel with lovely staff.

5 star touches.

The staff were outstanding. It could of been a 5 star hotel. The gent on recreation offered to carry bags. Advised on the local area. Asked how we were and about our day. There was even an Easter delivery to the room. Unexpected but very lovely. All the staff went above and beyond here. Thank you for the most pleasant and happy stay at a hotel in a very long time.
