Great food, excellent staff and comfortable room

The staff were excellent - really helpful and friendly. The food was delicious - we had a few sides & dessert in the evening, then the breakfast next morning - everything was delicious, really well cooked and the service was great. The room was comfortable and clean (and our little one loved the bunk beds for a family room)

Wonderful

Great location, easily walkable into town. Fantastic fish and chips which the whole restaurant seemed to have ordered as they saw what was coming out of the kitchen! Excellent service in the restaurant and a special mention to Lily and also the housekeeper.

This was the fourth time we had spent the night here for Bonfire night. Unlike the last few times, this was very different. The room was very clean as always however, the heat was unbearable it was like the middle of summer even with the AC on. There were no amenities for the dog, compared to last time when she was made to feel like a guest and not just a tag along. With breakfast, the bread tasted like cheap sweet loaf and the butter was unsalted. The hollandaise had too much vinegar in it, I couldn't eat it. No one came over to see if we were enjoying it and they stayed away until we left which made us feel like they didn't wish to hear any criticism. Overall, it felt like a totally different place. We won't be back to stay. on the positive, on the evening the ladies in the bar were amazing, very engaging with the dog, very willing to help regarding cocktails. couldn't fault them, they were lush.

Lovely clean room with everything you need. Nice big shower. Radiator boiling hot all night, so even with the windows wide open, had a terrible sleep. Breakfast was great, lots of choice. Horrible smell of sewers in the car park.

GREAT LOCATION

We enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast was fantastic, but our room a little disappointing. The carpet was dirty and there was a unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Basically, the hotel needs a refurb and modernisation. However, the location is brilliant and staff lovely and that counts for a lot.

Lovely pub/hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious, however bathroom could do with up dating and the blind was broken. Bed was comfy, dinner was fantastic but the breakfast service could have been a little quicker. Would suggest starting breakfast half an hour earlier on Great North Run day.

The Angel is in a very good spot but once inside it is very tired looking. Our room looked like it had been recently refurbished it was nice and fresh compared to other areas. Breakfast was just warm, not alot of extras and presentation on the extras table was poor.
