The Jockey Club Rooms

10/10 Excellent

"A unique venue- as are in effect club rooms for the jockey club. Room was large and newly refurbished, with a huge bathroom with walk in shower. No hotel facilities as such- ie food other than breakfast. Having said that breakfast could match any 5 star hotel- was a real treat. Is based right in the middle of Newmarket so easy access to shops. Has its own gated entrance and parking. Would stay again and can def recommend."

"Beautiful hotel , spotless and gorgeous rooms. It felt like the whole team was very disjointed - I’m not sure if it’s a new team and there isn’t enough of them or they just aren’t working well to make service flow. Not the usual 5* Novotel standard of customer service which is a shame because it really is a lovely hotel. Breakfast was great as always , again not enough staff to make it flow but the ones that were trying to get people seated were working hard just a crazy amount of used dirty tables not being cleared - I mean management must know it’s going to be busy if the hotel is busy. These details make me want to not go back. This could easily be a premium hotel with a bit more staff training and more staff."

"This hotel is clean and modern- comfortable bed and pillows, TV with apps and kitchen basics. I loved that you could chat with the staff via WhatsApp with immediate responses. I will stay here from now on when visiting Cambridge! Also great location just a few minutes walk to Kings Parade."

"I felt like I was staying at Fawlty Towers. The shower would sporadically go from boiling hot to freezing cold, there were fixtures hanging off walls and doors, holes in the walls, rotten wooden window frames, windows that wouldn’t open and the staff were quite rude. They also managed to lose a piece of luggage we accidentally left behind. We went back to get it a few hours after we checked out and they couldn’t find it. The manager pretty much blamed us for leaving it in the first place! Thankfully, we were only staying one night."

"Very comfortable bed but room far far too hot, window open but directly out side the beer garden so noisy. This would be fine if thoughtful ear plugs were provided. Felt quite exposed opening the window more, but room temperature so high, fan provided was pathetic so did not sleep well at all. I’m sure on a cool day it would be lovely however. Sadly had to leave before breakfast at 8 during weekends - I made a mistake and thought it would be 7.30 still. Lovely place but potential to be fantastic - could just be this room"
